Street Fighter X Tekken could have had Xbox 360 exclusive characters. The PS3 version of SFxT will have Cole McGrath from InFamous and Sony cat mascots, Toro and Kuro. According to the game's producer Yoshinori Ono, Capcom was in discussions with Microsoft but they ultimately never came to an agreement.
"We do have the exclusive characters for the Sony platform. We have Cole, the two Sony cats, Kuro and Toro. But basically for the Xbox 360, we were in discussions with them [Microsoft] for which character to put in as an exclusive, but we weren't able to decide on a character because of differences in timing and things like that," Ono told Xbox360Achievments.com.
"So unfortunately for Street Fighter X Tekken, only the PlayStation family will be getting the exclusive characters, but it's something we wish could have happened. It's just too bad, basically."
"In terms of characters we wish we could have put in the game, Master Chief or Marcus Fenix from Gears of War would have been really cool, but it was just really difficult," Ono said. "We have Cole from inFamous on PS3, which is really cool, but that's just the way it turned out."
This reminds me of what happened with Mortal Kombat. The PS3 version had Kratos while the Xbox 360 version didn't have any exclusive characters. These seem like missed opportunities to promote a platform, sell a game, and to pay fan service to your playerbase. Hopefully Microsoft will see the error in their ways and finally just add Horstachio from Viva Pinata to fighting games.

This would be easy.... add 2 killer instinct fighters to the roster like Jago and Orchid

Provided I haven't been on xbox in a while, I'm still familiar with their exclusives. You want to see a cool exclusive player from MS in a fighting game, then MS needs an IP that doesn't have you looking down the barrel of a gun. Besides it doesn't have to be a property in their house. Remember Spawn for Soul Caliber (3?)? Sony scored Heihachi Mishima and Nintendo weighed in with Link. MS can do something cool, but they might need to think outside the box.

Microsoft...tsk, tsk! :[
When it comes to showcasing hardware, Live, and online gaming, you reign without question.
But...
When it comes to software marketing, cross promoting, and the will to grant exclusive rights for the sake of fan-service, you absolutely suck without question.
And another thing...(I know this is somewhat off-topic, but I'm going somewhere with this*)
Years ago MS made a huge deal about having Rare in their camp a few E3's ago. Since then, we've been looking forward to one game and one game only, and both Microsoft & Rare know what that game is...Killer Instinct III.
Which brings me back to my point, MS hears and knows what the people want, yet they keep dictating and force-feeding us with crap we don't want. Why can't every developer studio and publisher listen to their fans? Netherrealms proved with the least installment of MK that there's GREAT reward when you give the fans what they want. Tekken X Street Fighter has my undivided attention now that Katsuhiro Harada has given the FANS the opportunity to decide on which fighter should appear in the game. Unlike Capcom's Street Fighter X Tekken, granted SFXT is going to be HUGE! But, I can still come up with at least 20 characters off the top of my head that would be awesome to have in the roster before the game's release, or at least for DLC.
Speaking of DLC, maybe Microsoft see the bad press they're getting from this, will have a change of heart, and clear all the red tape so we could have these characters as DLC. (crosses fingers*)

I think there IS a compatibility issue at play, Kratos fit in very well into Mortal Kombat, this Infamous guy seems to work with SFxT, but while they DID have a Spartan in DOA I wouldn't really say Master chief would REALLY fit in that well or that the game would match his image. He IS the guy that goes around shooting everything, not punching guys. Same with Marcus. 360 is just a more strongly shooter focused platform, I can't really think of any exclusive characters of any importance who'd really fit in with the martial arts crowd.
Cerrinos
They aren't the most melee friendly characters, but I can imagine some plasma grenade grapples with Chief.

There's already talk of Super SF X Tekken . There's still hope of Capcom milking a few MS franchises for their stale remixed rehashed refurbished fighting games.
Chief and Fenix huh? Who needs exclusives when you have those two to talk about every time a fighting game is recruiting platform exclusive characters. Who's gonna be in the next MK? Why, Chief and Fenix, of course. Or perhaps a Zonda from Forza? Joanna Dark? No...she's also on Nintendo. That dude from Ninja Blades?
Yeah, MS does not need exclusives.....
Dustee400
DUDE, Pretztail could've kicked some major butt!
Hastecaster
Wait for the merge, Marvel vs Namco vs Capcom vs Konami vs NetherRealm Studios (a.k.a. Midway) vs Dc to be released next week. Then prepare yourself for the sequel of a life time! MvNvCvKvNvD 2, to be released in 2 weeks. Don't forget the announcement of MvNvCvKvNvD 3, scheduled to be release in 3 weeks.... Blah blah blah you get the point...

There used to be Xbox 360 exclusivity in Soul Calibur IV, but after a while, all of the bonus characters were made available to buy through PSN.

Masterluchief521
Masterchief was in dead or alive. it's possible.
firecloud42
its not just Microsoft that has to agree on these terms, for Master chief its a yes but as for Marcus, you have to also get the rights from Epic games...
VincibleBoss
Master Chief and Marcus Fenix would just be odd ducks in Street Fighter.
hrey49
that suck, it would have been cool to throw a bone or two to the 360 owners but i guest not
