Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 "Liberation & Piazza Maps" Trailer »

UPDATE: I was a little bummed out this morning when I went to try out the new maps in Survival, only to not see them on the list of maps. My first thought was that you can't play them in Survival yet, but Activision tells me that's not the case. There's actually a new menu option when you go to choose Survival mode. I've embedded a video after the jump that gives you instructions for installing the maps. If you just want to know about the Spec Ops stuff, skip to 2:10.

ORIGINAL POST: Today, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 fans who enlisted on day one for a Call of Duty Elite premium subscription are finally getting their first taste of the the service's main benefit: early DLC access. In March, Activision will release the first downloadable content collection for the popular FPS, but Elite's premium subscribers will have all of that content already when it arrives.

It all starts today with the release of two maps: Liberation and Piazza. Xbox 360 users can download them right now by firing up the game, going into the Multiplayer menu and selecting the Store option. If you're a premium Elite subscriber, you should get a prompt alerting you to the new Elite content. I haven't jumped into the maps yet since I'm busy bringing you all the morning news, but I look forward to checking them out later.

PlayStation 3 users will have to wait a bit -- we're not sure how long yet -- before being able to access the Elite premium content, part of that whole "first on Xbox Live" thing. Sorry, kids. There's a new trailer out touting the content release which you can check out up top. It's actually a little bit painful to watch (sorry, Rob Riggle), but it looks like there are some teases of FUTURE content in there too. So you'll probably want to give it a watch.

Here's that how-to video mentioned in the above update:

Activision must doubt our intelligence, I mean first off, 60.00 for a cut and paste job? 50.00 extra for elite or 20.00 a month for the map packs? Don't know about you guys but my IQ is over 90, all I see here is Activision milking COD fans as much as they can. And by the way did you know when Activision bought out IW, over 1/2 of the employee's quit or were fired including the senior programer for COD? Guess where the senior programer works now? EA! AKA BF3. Do the math. Don't fall for Activisions crap and buy another game from them. What upsets me most is I am a long time COD fan, bought the first COD the day it came out years ago, Black ops and now Mw3, Black ops went in the trash the day I got it and Mw3 still sits on the shelf waiting for me to buy it... Not this time, never again!
