Imagine this is a surprise party that you found out about early. Be polite and pretend you're super-surprised: Capcom has just confirmed that Resident Evil 6 is on the way! The official announcement of RE 6 contains some confirmed details about what we can expect when the game hits November 20, including the suggestion that the president of the United States himself is a zombie.
Here's the official game description, right from Capcom:
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.
“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. I like what I see for RE6 I am hopping for some better game play. RE 5 was good but there are somethings that I would have done differently I hope that they fixed it in RE6. Also chris and leon together at last.

Looks good visually, but I didn't see a whole lot to separate it from the rest of the series (or shooters in general)

I know it says "Cinematic Trailer", but i believe I saw some possible in game footage/gameplay in it. Looks really good if that was in game footage/gameplay.

Great to see the zombies back in action where they belong! This game looks to be a defiant improvement over the last one.I'm wondering if the action's gunna take place in an open world type setting or be more liner in play through chapters for the diffirent sets of characters?I'm also wondering if Ashley was that blonde in the trailer?

2) I believe this one takes place 10 years after Raccoon City?

^^ Correction: It seems that the girl who appears later in the trailer with the mercenary (who is understood to be a Sam Witwer) is actually Ashley Graham. I'm wiling to believe this because her voice send recollecting nails down a chalkboard in the back of my mind. I consider my mistake to be wishful thinking. I hoped Capcom had matured and re-contextualized a primarily weak female character. The other girl (who is probably Ashley) seems to have the ability to handle herself, but is in a support role to the macho Sam Witwer, which disappoints me quite a bit. I would have like to see her character mature and perhaps shoot zombies for herself, not vicariously through a male character. Who knows. Capcom may grant my oddly specific wish.
