I Am Alive Trailer Showcases Ranged And Melee Combat

Ubisoft will at long last release I Am Alive in February or March, more than three years after its 2008 reveal. The Xbox Live Arcade title, part of Microsoft's House Party 2012 promotion, puts players in the shoes of a man who survived a global catastrophe and is now looking for his wife and daughter in the post-apocalyptic world.

Today brings a new trailer that shows off how combat in the game works. Ranged attacks drop players into a first-person perspective, but you'll also be able to wield and slice throats with a machete by getting in close. The trailer makes it sound like resource management is a key focus in the game, with an emphasis on avoiding confrontation whenever possible. Simply drawing and aiming your gun will give some enemies pause, allowing you to avoid combat all together or at least get close enough that you won't have to waste a bullet.
