SWTOR Companions Guide -– Keeping You Warm And Safe With Info on Every Companion in The Old Republic

From flesh-consuming monsters to adorable droids, we know you want to eat up every morsel of information about every companion in Star Wars: The Old Republic. After all, it just wouldn't be a BioWare game without friends to gather along the way, and SWTOR is very much a BioWare game. That's why we've produced this handy companion guide, so you'll know who all The Old Republic companions are and what they can do for you.

In SW:TOR, companions complement – and sometimes compliment! – your character's strengths and fill in the soft spots left by their weaknesses. They may seem extraneous at first, but try playing the game truly solo, sans companion, and you'll come to appreciate their incredibly useful implementation. They not only come in handy gameplay-wise, but also fill out the story experience by giving their thoughts, approval, and/or disapproval to your actions. Meaning, that's right... companion gifts!

Companions are also unique to each class, so our guide is broken down as such. Be sure to check below and find your class!

Nadia Grell – Nadia is a fresh-faced, eager child, excited to be out and exploring the galaxy for the first time. She also yearns for people to treat her kindly, as the natives of her planet feared her extreme potential in the Force. Cross her, and you may have reason to as well.

  • Role: Melee DPS
  • Planet: Belsavis
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 synthweaving, +2 diplomacy critical
  • Suggested gifts: Republic Memorabilia, Cultural Artifact, Courting

SWTOR Companions Guide -– Keeping You Warm And Safe With Info on Every Companion in The Old RepublicTanno Vik – A self-serving demolitions expert criminal-turned-military-recruit, Tanno is a ruthless things-go-boom addict. • Crew skill bonus: +5 armormech, +1 underworld trading critical
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Underworld Good, Technology

M1-4X – The perfect war droid, M1 is programmed to be nothing but a servant to the Republic's goals. As such, he is a significantly advanced model, full of patriotism. Don't uh... don't do anything the Republic wouldn't approve of.

Elara Dorne – Elara was originally an Imperial, making her personality a rigid and unfeeling one. She is widely regarded to be more of a party burden than Buzz Killington, and though she has since defected to the kinder Republic, she still adheres religiously to the law set before her.

  • Role: Ranged Healer
  • Planet: Taris
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 biochem efficiency, +10 bioanalysis efficiency
  • Suggested gifts: Luxury, Military Gear, Republic Memorabilia

Akaavi Spar – As a former Mandalorian betrayed by the Empire, Akaavi is an extremely hardened bounty hunter. She once hunted even the mighty Jedi, and so fears no one, not even you. She'll be out for herself, but her loyalty can be bought.

  • Planet: Balmorra (Empire)
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 armormech, +2 bioanalysis critical
  • Suggested gifts: Trophy, Military Gear, Weapon

Guss Tuno – A career con artist, Guss is a Mon Calamari that fancies himself the cat's pajamas. Or whatever characters in the Star Wars universe would say to describe someone full of themselves. • Crew skill bonus: +5 underworld trading efficiency, +5 treasure hunting critical
  • Suggested gifts: Cultural Artifact, Luxury, Underworld Good

Jaesa Willsaam – A Jedi successfully tempted to the Dark Side, Jaesa will play a pivotal role in the upcoming war. With the ability to sense someone's potentials through the Force, she is immensely powerful, and can be swayed to either the Light or Dark through following your actions.

Malavai Quinn – Malavai is the ideal Imperial officer, duty-bound and practically suicidal in his zealotry. His mind is a steel trap, logical and meticulous. It's highly advised you not cross the man.

  • Role: Ranged Healer
  • Planet: Balmorra (Empire)
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 armstech efficiency, +10 diplomacy efficiency
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Military Gear, Imperial Memorabilia

  • Planet: Taris
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 cybertech efficiency, +2 research critical
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Military Gear, Trophy

Broonmark – Hey, it's that alien! You know, from the original cantina scene! Four eyes, tooting little mouth... a Talz. Broonmark however is something quite different from the rest of his race. He seeks only more and more intense violence, seeking always to test himself in battle. Talking things out is not one of his strong suits.

  • Role: Melee Tank
  • Planet: Hoth
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 scavenging efficiency, +2 bioanalysis critical
  • Suggested gifts: Technology, Republic Memorabilia, Trophy

Sith Inquisitor Companions:

SWTOR Companions Guide -– Keeping You Warm And Safe With Info on Every Companion in The Old RepublicKhem Val – An ancient servant of the long-since-dead Sith Lord Tulak Hord, Khem Val is a Force-resistant monster that consumes his enemies and refuses to obey those beneath him. He'll constantly test your hold on his leash, and though he may seem like an obedient, if dangerous pet, it's highly advised you not trust him.

  • Role: Melee Tank
  • Planet: Korriban
  • Crew skill bonus: +15 artifice efficiency, +5 research efficiency
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Cultural Artifact, Trophy

Andronikos Revel – A sort of Captain Jack style character, Revel is a pirate whose career has been cut short thanks to that good ol' pirate hobby, mutiny. He's a crack shot and fabulous pilot, but he has a sharp temper and easily-pushed buttons.

  • Role: Ranged DPS
  • Planet: Tatooine
  • Crew skill bonus: +2 underworld trading critical, +2 slicing critical
  • Suggested gifts: Military Gear, Underworld Good, Weapon

Ashara Zavros – Ashara is not exactly your friend as a Sith Inquisitor companion. She instead acts as the angel on your shoulder, seeking only knowledge of the Force and compassion in the face of destructoin. She'll scold you for random acts of cruelty, so prepare for some negative points.

Talos Drellik – Drellik may be an Imperial soldier, but he's never been particularly good at it, hence his role as a healer. He instead puts all of his effort into his research and archeological studies, desiring knowledge above all else. He'll hate you for trying to hide things from him.

  • Role: Ranged Healer
  • Planet: Hoth
  • Crew skill bonus: +5 treasure hunting efficiency, +5 archeology critical
  • Suggested gifts: Imperial Memorabilia, Republic Memorabilia, Luxury

Xalek – Perhaps the most ideal student of the Dark Side, Xalek follows a path very similar to your own as an Inquisitor, though even your viciousness pales in comparison. Xalek follows and knows the Sith Code by heart, abhoring all who stand in his way.

  • Role: Ranged DPS / Melee Tank
  • Planet: Voss
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 bioanalysis efficiency, +2 scavenging critical
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Military Gear, Trophy

Bounty Hunter Companions:

SWTOR Companions Guide -– Keeping You Warm And Safe With Info on Every Companion in The Old RepublicMako – A young techie picked up by retired hunter Braden, Mako is a loving, bright personality in a dreary, hopeless world. She's protective of those who earn her trust, but absolutely hates those who turn away from those in need.

  • Role: Ranged Healer
  • Planet: Hutta
  • Crew skill bonus: +5 cybertech efficiency, +15 slicing efficiency
  • Suggested gifts: Underworld Good, Technology, Cultural Artifact

Gault Rennow – A former occupant of the galaxy's most wanted list, Rennow is a backstabbing, paranoid killer. He's a dirty trickster, quite un-fond of any sense of a fair fight. He plots and plans, so make sure you're in the plans that keep you alive instead of against him.

Torian Cadera – Few things are as dangerous in the Star Wars galaxy as a Mandalorian, and make that doubly so for a Mandalorian with something to prove. As the son of a traitor, Cadera applies himself twice as strictly to Mandalorian code, challenging foes twice his strength to prove himself. Never ask him to back down.

  • Role: Melee DPS
  • Planet: Taris
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 research efficiency, +2 bioanalysis critical
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Military Gear, Trophy

Blizz – Jawa! Jawa companion! Oh em gee, it's a jawa, what else do you want?! He's a scrapper and with heavy armor makes an awesome ranged tank. He's a jawa tank! If this doesn't make you want to roll Bounty Hunter, nothing will.

  • Role: Ranged Tank
  • Planet: Hoth
  • Crew skill bonus: +15 armormech, +1 armstech critical
  • Suggested gifts: Trophy, Luxury, Cultural Artifact

Skadge – Only a bounty hunter of immense stature and prowess could handle such a character as Skadge. As a criminal just recently set loose after years of experiments – where he murdered half of his fellow test subjects with his bare hands – Skadge is not a character to be trifled with. Be wary.

  • Role: Melee Tank
  • Planet: Belsavis
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 scavenging efficiency, +2 treasure hunting critical
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Underworld Good, Trophy

Imperial Agent Companions:

SWTOR Companions Guide -– Keeping You Warm And Safe With Info on Every Companion in The Old RepublicKaliyo D'jannis – A temptress, schemer, liar and murderer, Kaliyo is a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in a flaky, pastry crust. She will constantly fight you for control of your mission, as she prizes her individuality above all else.

  • Role: Ranged Tank
  • Planet: Hutta
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 armstech efficiency, +2 underworld trading critical
  • Suggested gifts: Luxury, Underworld Good, Weapon

Vector Hyllus – A charismatic diplomat for the Empire, Vector is as dangerous as he is colorful when he wants to be. He is surprisingly skilled with his electrostaff, but he does not welcome violence. Any comments that go against diplomatic ideals will not go over well.

  • Role: Melee DPS
  • Planet: Alderaan
  • Crew skill bonus: +5 bioanalysis efficiency, +5 diplomacy critical
  • Suggested gifts: Imperial Memorabilia, Cultural Artifact, Weapon

Doctor Eckard Lokin – As one of the most interesting and unique Imperial Agent companions, I'd hate to spoil Lokin's story. Let's just say not all is as it seems when you meet this curiously aloof doctor, and if you'd like to stay on his good side(s), try to think clever and think selfish.

  • Role: Healer / Melee DPS
  • Planet: Taris
  • Crew skill bonus: +15 biochem efficiency, +10 research efficiency
  • Suggested gifts: Military Gear, Luxury, Technology

Ensign Raina Temple – A strange and suspiciously empathetic and kind ensign of the Imperial military, Raina is not without her mystery, but is also wholeheartedly duty and honor-bound. She's a bit flirty and occasionally seems to have an angle, so watch her closely, agent.

Scorpio – A curious and somewhat selfish droid, SCORPIO ranks as a galaxy-wide threat due to “her” mission of self-improvement at any cost. She partners with those she deems worthy, but will never be your servant. She loves studying and learning from new technology, but her independent spirit will not allow her to take orders or approve of inefficient actions.

  • Role: Melee Tank / Melee DPS
  • Planet: Belsavis
  • Crew skill bonus: +10 cybertech efficiency, +2 slicing critical
  • Suggested gifts: Weapon, Technology, Military Gear
