The Fatal Frame series gets a lot of love from fans for offering a decidedly different take on the interactive horror genre. Narrative is a key component in all of the games as players use the Camera Obscura to find and capture a variety of spirits. A Nintendo 3DS version of the game was revealed last year, a Japan-only spinoff with a title that translates roughly to Spirit Camera: The Cursed Notebook.
Nintendo now confirms that the spinoff is headed to North America as well, bearing the title Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir and heading our way in April. The story follows a young girl named Maya as she tries to rid herself of a curse. The game will use the 3DS character to render Maya in real-world environments on the 3DS screen. The press release confirms that the game will also include a 16-page AR Book, the so-called "diary of faces" that, from the sound of things, offers additional story development and minigames.
You can pick up Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir for your 3DS starting on Friday, April 13.
