Take-Two Interactive announces this morning that the planned March release of Rockstar Games' Max Payne 3 has changed, with the game now being pushed back into the publisher's 2013 fiscal year, starting on April 1. Fans can now expect the game to arrive in May, with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions coming on May 15 and the PC version coming on May 29. Those are the North American dates; fans outside the U.S. can expect the console version on May 18 and the PC version on June 1.
Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two, noted in a morning press release that the "short delay" is meant to "ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality" it possibly can. The move also beefs up a hefty fiscal 2013 lineup for the publisher, with Payne joining the likes of BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Spec Ops: The Line, XCOM, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and "other titles yet to be announced." Presumably, that last quoted bit is code for "Grand Theft Auto 5."
