It's hard to really describe exactly WHY Mojang's Minecraft is such a dangerous timesink. It's best to just sit down and play the thing. Dangerous too, since the moment you pick up the blocky world-builder it becomes clear that this is the grown-up version of LEGO playsets that you've been waiting for.
A cool 20 million people have realized this so far, according to a weekend tweet from Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson. He also adds that, figuring on an average user weight of 70 kg (approx. 154 pounds), the total number of players accounts for 25 percent of the weight of the Great Pyramid of Giza. The real one, not the blocky recreation you spent six weeks building in your private Minecraft world.

I wonder how many users are still playing this game.

That's 20 million people signed up and NOT 20 million sales, just to make it clearer for you guys. At the time of my post minecraft had 4,669,627 sales.(http://www.minecraft.ne t/stats)
