Fans of 2K’s Major League Baseball series will once again have a chance to pocket a cool $1 million for pitching a virtual perfect game in 2K Sports’ upcoming Major League Baseball 2K12, albeit with a little twist.
This year’s perfect game challenge will take the top eight players on the MLB 2K12’s perfect game leaderboard and pit them against each other in a live tournament to see who walks away $1 million richer, unlike the past two years, which simply awarded the prize to the first person to accomplish the feat.
Another change for this year’s contest is that players will not be required to film themselves pitching the perfect game. Participants just have to play MLB 2K12’s Perfect Game Challenge mode. Pitching a perfect game gives you a code that you then submit to 2K Sports' perfect game contest site.
“With the Perfect Game Challenge firmly entrenched in the culture of sports gaming,” said 2K Sports vice president of marketing Jason Argent, “we’re thrilled to introduce several new twists that can only take the contest to the next level of competitive excitement and open it up to more people. The contest has been incredibly popular the past two years, but there’s always room for improvement. We listened to user feedback and made participation more fun and accessible than ever before.”
The contest kicks off on MLB’s opening day, April 4 and will last through the end of the month. MLB 2K12 features a “dynamic leaderboard” that will continually rank each new perfect game as it happens, so players will be able to try and up their ranking as much as they want.
Alabama resident Wade McGilberry won the first Perfect Game Challenge back in 2010, and Louisiana music teacher Brian Kingrey took the prize last year.
Anyone out there going to take a shot at the perfect game challenge this year? Just so you know, I'd totally split my winnings with you if I won. Just saying.

Two years ago they said the game was revamped, but it still stucked. They should just give up and let EA do multiplatform baseball games like they used too.

Is that Jamie Moyer in the dugout?

Pitching a perfect game is hard.

As a dedicated member of Team Coco, I was happy to see 2K chose to reveal this on last night's Conan. Too bad I don't like sports games. I do like them a bit more than the tired, uninspired, safe-joke-telling Leno.

Actually, last year Michael Manna (aka pro wrestling's Stevie Richards) was the first one to pitch the perfect game. Stevie got screwed! Here is the article with PROOF: http://www.worldwrestlinginsan ity.com/am2/publish/RDLee/Stev ieGotScrewed.shtml
