id Software Layoffs Will Not Affect Future Titles According To Bethesda

Layoffs have hit Rage developers id Software today. The news has been confirmed by id Software's parent company Bethesda Softworks.

Bethesda's VP of marketing, Pete Hines, released a statement about the layoffs. "As part of its standard business practice, id regularly evaluates staffing to ensure it has a workforce that meets the needs of the studio. As part of that process, some id employees were recently let go."

Hines added, "id is still recruiting and hiring qualified developers, and development work on future id titles continues unabated."

Currently, the only announced project id Software is working on is Doom 4, which was revealed back in 2008.

It's always a sad day for the gaming industry when layoffs happen. Best of luck to everyone who lost their jobs. I really did like Rage!
