Activision has released the first substantial details about its upcoming Modern Warfare 3 Content Season for Call of Duty Elite, including the release date for the first two pieces of DLC for last year’s biggest selling title.
The first batch of DLC includes two maps--the Central Park-based Liberation and the Italian coast-set Piazza (both of which will be playable in MW3’s Survival Mode)--kicks off a nine-month stretch of monthly DLC releases, over 20 pieces in total, all of which will be available to COD Elite premium members first via Xbox Live followed by PS3 and PC at some later date.
"With the Call of Duty: MW3 Content Season for Call of Duty Elite,” said Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg in a statement to the press, “we are delivering on our promise of more new content, more often, and with more variety than ever. With three studios collaborating on the first season, the breadth and depth of material on tap is truly extraordinary. It's rare you can successfully execute both quantity and quality, but thanks to the expertise of our developers, the reach of Call of Duty Elite and the passion of our fans, we intend to deliver."
For non-COD Elite members, you’ll be able to purchase all of the upcoming DLC, aka Modern Warfare 3 Content Collections, a la carte, but you’ll have to wait a while. The first of these collections, which will include the January, February, and March DLC (five pieces total), will be available to non-Elite premium members in March.
To coincide with each new DLC release, there will also be Call of Duty Elite events that will give players the chance to win real-life prizes for their virtual deeds. Expect plenty more details on what those events and prizes actually in the coming weeks.
