Konami have announced the release date for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. The reworked update of the PlayStation 2 game will be out for the Nintendo 3DS on February 21, 2012. Konami has also confirmed that the game will make use of the new Circle Pad Pro accessory.
If you're not familiar with MGS: SE, let me catch you up. The game takes place in the Cold War and you'll be playing as the hero Snake as he infiltrates his way through the Soviet jungle to bring back a scientist who's being held against his will.

What's great about the 3D remake of the game is how much more immersed you'll feel while sneaking through the jungle. According to Konami the 3D elements in the game truly make key boss battles and exploration "all the more incredible."
Another neat feature coming to the game is the all-new camouflage photography system. Here's how Konami explains it, "Within the game, Snake can alter his ensemble to match and blend in with his immediate environment and the possibilities can range from brick-colored fatigues within buildings, to the classic camouflage khakis of the jungle."
They continue, "Users can now take a picture of real-life items and create a camo suit based on them – although the extent of its effectiveness will vary depending on how well your pictures blend with Snake's environment!"
I think that sounds gimmicky but also somewhat neat at the same time. I'll have to wait to see it in person to pass judgement, but I'm happy that the game finally has a release date now.
