If you were browsing around the gaming Internet over the weekend then you probably saw some talk about Diablo 3. A seemingly official display touting a February 1 release and midnight sale for the game popped up in a Minnesota Best Buy long enough for a tipster to snap a photo and send it in to Joystiq.
It really looked official, that display. There was a countdown clock and everything. Sure, February was spelled as "Feburary," but mistakes happen. Mistakes like a store making an assumption about a release date. Blizzard community manager Micah "Bashiok" Whipple posted on Twitter that "Diablo 3 does not have a release date." It doesn't get much more official than a statement from the game's developer.
Take comfort in the fact that Diablo 3 really is coming. It'll even be here relatively soon, as early 2012 is still the expected release window. Just make sure the date you're getting excited about next time is a Blizzard-confirmed one.

All I can say is Im in the current beta and trust me its a great game... They did not disappoint. And yes it was worth the wait.

Yo I hope they plan to release Heart of the Swarm first! That'll be a good pass time, until the Diablo 3 game is dropped. Yikes Diablo 3!!! Looking good! Lets stick by the older the fruit the sweeter the GAME!

guess my other comment didnt post, but ya i called eb games this morning sadened to hear that no one has a release date for diablo 3 as of now. so shnacks i'd call back to make sure they have your pre-order. i've been waiting for diablo 3 since they first told us about it. it's the only game i will be playing when it comes out. planning on making tons off their auctions and have fun plaaying a blizzard game. which i love them all. though wow is too addicton, became third best shaman in the world two weeks after the release of cata. and realized wow takes alot of life time to be the best. so i quit it. though d3 i plan on doing the same. plz blizzard, release the game already. :P

i've been waiting for diablo 3 since the start. d2 started me with blizzard. was little sad to find out today when i called eb games to see if diablo 3 was still coming out feb 1 and the guy told me as it stands, no one has a release date from blizzard yet for it. so shnacks i'd call them bak about your pre-order to make sure you weren't f'd around.(can't use profanity:) for now i'll enjoy sc2, d2, d1, and some lol and many other first person shooter games while i wait for my highly anticipated game of all time. but i swear to god if the world ends and they still haven't released it i'll be coming for them in heaven or hell:P if there is such a place.

People need to realize a few things. A) It has not been in production for a decade. Blizzard did not start making Diablo 3 as soon as Diablo 2 was released. B) People will remember an amazing game, not how long it took to make it. Blizzards games do not disappoint. C)Stop complaining that it isn't released yet. They have their reasons for delaying. No amount of whining will change the bug that needs fixing or the problem thats occuring. And finally. D) If the date isn't on the Blizzard website, or an actual televised commercial, don't believe it! People make up things constantly. Most of the time they are wrong. Stop being sheep!

I've been waiting longingly and despite the anger, irritation, antagonism, resentment, rage, disappointment, distress, frustration, let-down, disillusionment and general discontent (add more words here), I still fully intend to buy it...

I was at gamestop the other day and asked if they had a release date and they have it down as march 3rd i believe and i preordered it. im sure its gonna be an early march release

i don't know why this is not coming out soon...i been beta testing this game for a while now and its a very solid game from what i played....its all just because they are making it for console now and they have to go through the porting process. But until then i will keep playing the beta and be happy!

I don't understand why they can never get their crap together, its like they have a team of 5 or 6 guys making this game. We have seen a truckload of awesome, high quality games come out that didn't take a decade to make. Sounds like they have inept management. Blizzard, higher yourself a team of a talented individuals, their are tons of people who would love to work for you, and knock this game out.

Not sure what sort of mind-f might be going on, but when I pre-ordered D3 from Best Buy the release date was listed as 2/1/12. Got this e-mail today, http://twitpic.com/85tzfy, that lists it as 12/31/12. Other than removing my order number and e-mail inbox I haven't altered the message at all. WTF?! Could this just be Best Buy cowing to Blizzard's demands at a mis-direction?

The more i read about diablo 3 the less im exited about it, blizzard just removed the uniqueness of the game. its really sad. All they needed to do is another diablo 2 with new more balanced chars and more fun quest. and maybe fix a couple stupid things about the game.
But it just seem like they want another WOW. Level cap 60 and up it with expansions? really? why not just make it have everyone spawn on the same map and call it World of Diablo?

Blizzard is just as bad as Id when it comes to release dates.
Its Diablo after all so I am sure it will be good but when a game spends too much time in development it never lives up to the hype it creates (Duke Nukem anyone?)
