One of the bigger news items that came out of Sony's E3 press conference earlier this year was the reveal that Dust 514, a multiplayer shooter from CCP Games set within the universe of its EVE Online MMO, would be a PlayStation exclusive. The game is supposed to be coming sometime in 2012, and CCP is accepting beta tester sign-ups as of today.
There's a catch though. The "Mordu's Private Trials" beta is only open to EVE subscribers for now. Registering for access doesn't necessarily mean you'll get in, but not being an EVE Online player means you definitely won't. You can sign up right here or wait patiently in the hopes that a public beta announcement follows soon.

Really, Sony? What have you planned for your next exclusive beta, are you going to make a deal with Microsoft for PS3 users to have to subscribe to Xbox Live for a set amount of time to access it?
Not all PS3 users have a decent PC--let alone, most are not Eve subscribers. Why should subscribing to a PC game get you into a PS3 exclusive's beta? It's counter-intuitive and absolute bull if ya ask me. This is just a marketing ploy to get people to subscribe to their Eve MMO.
We haven't even seen much of Dust 514 since last year, and it's really not promising when a company asks for money up front to beta test their game. Color me alienated by Sony.

Its too be they decided to go PS3 only. I was looking forward to it maybe being on the PC when they first announced it. I'll keep my EVE thank you very much. <3

That is great they want to let subscribers get first beta access but if the people that are still playing eve spend more time on dust then who is going to front the ISK costs and all that once dust comes out and they also need new players to play dust so that the people playing eve will have soldiers to recruit.
So restricting access to only eve subscribers is just silly.

Dust itself won't require a subscription.
You need ISK, Eve's currency, to buy equipment.
You get ISK from completing contracts and when you first purchase the game.
They may change details and a lot of people seem to have trouble understanding it when they explain it on web sites. This is probably due to the fact that it's F2P but requires an upfront purchase so it's not entirely free.

If anyone tries it out, pm me and tell me how it plays. I'm interested in knowing more about it but subscription based games turn me off.
