UPDATE: Rest assured, this rumor looks like it's false. According to Kotaku, Sony has addressed these reports by saying, "This is not true."
Panic is setting in as reports that The Last Guardian has been cancelled are popping up. Before you look for your inhaler, nothing has been confirmed by Sony at this time. The bad news stems from reports GameStop has removed The Last Guardian from their database as an upcoming game. If that wasn't damming enough, some customers are even claiming they received phone calls letting them know the game had been cancelled. One blogger even recorded the message.
Many suspected The Last Guardian's future was in jeopardy when Fumito Ueda left the project. The game was also notably absent from this past Tokyo Game Show.
Of course all this could mean is that since The Last Guardian doesn't have a release date, GameStop would rather not make promises about the title. After that phone call, you may invest that five dollar pre-order on something that will come out in 2012. You may even drop $60, which is exactly what GameStop wants. They probably don't have any privileged information.
My theory isn't very exciting however, so I take it back; this title is as good as dead. Where's my pitchfork?
If any of you see Morgan Webb or Leah Jackson, please don't tell them about this news story. Their little griffin-baby loving hearts can't take it.

well the development lead for this game left sony in a hurry. ps3 is a sinking ship and the rats are trying to get off before they drown. I am so disappointed. I bought a ps3 last year for this game alone. I've been using it as a blu ray player and now i have no use for it.

Which game will come out first? This or FF vs. XIII? They've both been in development for about half of duke nukem forever's. I'm sorry but anything more than 4 years and you've announced the game way too soon. I tire of watching trailers and gameplay teasers...wheres the damn game already?!

If Fumito Ueda wants to work from home, he can work from home. He made so-ho much money from the HD collection released in September '11. Besides, who wants to work in a cramped office at Sony HQ?

I nearly had a heart attack upon reading that message. Very glad to hear it coming still. Shadow was one of my favorite games of the last decade. Very happy to see the game is still on!

Sad to say, but even if this game comes out I doubt it's going to be good at this point because Fumito Ueda left the project before it has been completed and it has taken them like 5 years now to make this game. I think if the were to release soon it'll be broken and I think its unfortunately going to be waisted money on Sony's side. :[
