Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 finally seems to have found its footing following a rocky launch, on the technical side, at least. There are still areas that could be improved, and plenty of promised Elite features that have yet to arrive, but the game and its social network are both up and running. That's good. The next focus for co-developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, along with Raven Software? DLC.
Elite subscribers in particular have been waiting to hear what Activision's release plan is for the game's downloadable add-ons, since the main feature of the $50 subscription not only nets you all of that content, but also early access to it as well. A morning e-mail sent to Elite's Premium members confirms that the planned DLC "season" will kick off on January 24, on Xbox Live first. Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has tweeted the first screenshot of one the maps, Park. [above]
The e-mail links to a video that's supposed to be up on the EliteTV channel, but it doesn't appear to be live for one and all just yet. In it, IW's Robert Bowling reveals that fans can expect more diverse DLC than they've seen with past Call of Duty games, including multiplayer maps, Spec Ops missions and "a variety of things that players have never seen before." Look for more info, including details on when PlayStation 3 and PC users can expect the added content, in early January (via CVG).
The e-mail also confirms some other minor details that may be of interest to fans. Next week, Elite users can look forward to the launch of Compete channel events that offer actual, physical prizes. Then, next month, the long-promised Call of Duty Elite mobile app will be coming to iOS and Android platforms.

lol this is so funny how all ps3 owners are pissed of that they you getting it late. look!! in black ops it was a month... does anyone really care? well.. i do cos i get to rub it in ur face but just cos sony is so unreliable and decided to go with bf3 (the worst war game ever). and u blame microsoft? gimme a break !! lol

i never buy the DLC for games like this there not worth it's there just maps and so what if xbox gets the DLC 1st i have a PS3 and i don't care who gets the DLC 1st its just a DLC!

I distinctly recall IW mentioning DLC maps being released to all Elite premium subscribers with ONE map being released each month leading up to the release of the DLC packs the maps are contained in for everyone else.
and NOW, once again, the faux IW and biased Activision went back on their statements and are playing favorites again to the Xbox crowd making the DLC available for a period of time before the premium subscribers on PS3, and then let the rest of the PS3 non-subbers get access a very short time later.
Am I getting this right?

Its amusing to see so many people raging because they have a ps3 and wont be getting the DLC at the same time as us on XBL. Activision has a partnership with Microsoft, and in return, Microsoft gets first access to the DLC. Basically, we XBl members are the guinea pigs for the DLC. If something goes wrong, we have to help them iron it out. Look at the Stimulus Package for MW2. It took down the XBL servers when it launched. Would you guys on PS3 want that to happen again, after the hacking back in April? I didnt think so. With XBL members getting it first, we can iron out the kinks before they send it to you guys at Sony.
TL;DR: Quit your bitching. At least you guys get the ironed out product "sooner". in this respect.

This is bull, this is why everyone hates call of duty and infinity world they said that if you got a premium membership to elite you would get the map packs first and now they say that it drops first on xbox? I'm really angry about this since i had to drop extra money to get this. I see the same thing happening that happened to Ea (I think they're the ones who made bf3) with them not owning up to giving everyone who bought it on ps3 battlefield 1943. If only once infintyward would follow through on something. *facepalm*

ok!!! i'll try to keep this clean as possible! i spent $100 bucks on the harden to make sure that i got all dlc as a elite member first! not by system! so what is the point! they took my money on the merit that elite members would get the dlc first! now your telling me that it's going to the CRAPPER BOX FIRST! so once again the millionires, billionires, maybe even trillionaire of a game i buy every year has once again polished there toetum poles, and stuck me were the sun doesn't shine! and please understand that this is painful, but why would they care! they already got paid! mean while i'll have to sit on a donut to ease the pain as i wait for some dlc i paid for back in november!!!!!!!! Thanx Activision! and merry christmas!!!!!!!!!!
