Pokemon is known for strictly following a formula. Every iteration of the series from Pokemon Red to Pokemon Black has followed this pattern. When rumors began to circulate indicating another Pokemon game was on the horizon, we all thought Pokemon Grey was the obvious next Pokemon game. We were all wrong. Reports from Jump Festa, a Japanese gaming conventions, reveal the next Pokemon game is called Pokemon X Nobunaga's Ambition.
All we have to go on is a series of screens from the game. Pokemon X Nobunaga's Ambition would be a crossover title for the DS that combines the strategy series with the cute monster collecting series. The screens show generals in ancient Japanese armor and Eevee. According to Serebii the game has gamers in the role of a Pokemon as he (or she) attempts to take over parts of the Ranse region. The game has 17 castles, each with a general and a specific Pokemon.
I'm all for Game Freak and Nintendo taking risks but this seems weird. I definitely wouldn't have imagined this but I'll wait until I play to judge it. What do you think? Is this the weirdest crossover idea you've ever seen?

Poor Nobunaga, always being vilified in gaming. yet when you read about what he did he doesn't sound all that bad.

Why can't nintendo simply give us a full 3D world? Can you just imagine a pokemon game with an open world like skyrim or Final Fantasy where the pokemon run free and npc's all rome the world hunting and training. There are hundreds of pokemon with many cities and gyms. Now this part can go either way for me; when the battle starts you turn it into an rpg style fight where you give the pokemon orders (like the battle system in FF13, not turn based because thats been done to death in pokemon and thats not how a fight would happen anyway) or you take control of the pokemon themselves and control it like a fight in DBZ tenkaichi style or Naruto ninja storms (fast paced with high impact and flashy moves). This game would sell like crazy, but they will likely make the same old game they have been pumping out for 15 years and we will still buy it, love it, then wish for more.

Looks nice and cool, however a risky bet even for a Pokemon game so lets just wait and see how things play out for Game Freak and Nintendo, best of luck.

As soon as I saw Nobunaga I instantly wanted to play the Onimusha games... Anyways this game sounds good. Pretty much the same good game and formula in an ancient Japaneze setting. I'm in :)

all they need is a 3-d pokemon game. Not like that crap Colleseum etc. Like a full fledged 200 pokemon , 8 gym, 14 city pokemon game

This is just another mini series, there announcing a new game on January 14th or around that time

i'm pretty sure this isn't the game they were planning on announcing. they said they would reveal a new game in the new year through a magazine, so this could be a separate announcement. grey is still a possibility, unless they scrapped former plans of announcement for this time and outlet

So it's like Romance of the three kingdoms with Pokemon, I can deal with that. Actually sounds pretty awesome, though I bet everyone else isn't up to this idea. (People just can't deal with difference/change in their "perfect" world)

i like this idea if you look at it there's very little difference from the Pokemon dungeon games this just adds some more story to Pokemon.
