The Steam Holiday Sale has started and will run through Sunday, January 1 2012. On top of getting some of your favorite PC games, gift packs, and more for ridiculously cheap, Steam is also offering two special promotions that will allow gamers to win, "like never before."
This year, Steam is introducing The Great Gift Pile that challenges gamers to complete up to six objectives a day. For each objective you complete, you'll get the chance to win a free game or a discount coupon for select games on Steam. If you don't win, you get coal. But it's good coal!
Coal is your ticket to enter the Epic Holiday Giveaway where the top prize is, get this, every game on Steam. The more coal you have, the better your chance of winning. You can also trade coal and prizes with friends.
If you think there's no way you could win the top prize, you can also mix seven of your pieces of coal into a gift from the Great Gift Pile. Only Valve could make getting coal for the holidays something to celebrate about.

Personally, I've been waiting for this Holiday Sale all year. I love to pick up some of the bigger games that I missed out on at a really good price, but the best part is trying out some of the indie games that I've heard about throughout the year and didn't get a chance to try yet. What game are you going to try and grab during the Steam Holiday Sale?
Remember that the longer you wait, the cheaper the games usually get during these sales too!
