Skyrim Ships 10 Million Copies, Becomes Fastest Selling Steam Title

Bethesda Softworks has very little to complain about this holiday season. Rage might not have hit on all of the cylinders that it could have, but The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim more than made up for it with its November 11 release. The long-awaited sequel has picked up numerous Game of the Year awards, including our own, and Bethesda also now confirms in a press release that more than 10 million copies have shipped.

In case that's too much math to think about for a Friday morning, that 10 million equates to more than $650 million in sales so far. Bethesda also notes that the mod-friendly PC version "outsold all other PC games by a factor of over three to one in the month of its release." Steam's Jason Holtman also confirms that the PC version of Skyrim is the fastest-selling release in the download service's history.

Not bad for a game filled with dragons that fly backwards and a law enforcement community made up entirely of former adventurers who were felled by arrows to the knee.
