Feedback's Question Of The Week

Since the Holidays are quickly approaching I want to farm some questions from you, the readers, before you leave town/enter a sugar cookie coma/ partake in a marathon Skyrim session.

Some time after Christmas we're going to shoot our Looking Forward to 2012 episode. The comment section below is your chance to ask us anything you want to know about the video games of 2012. Go ahead, ask away!

Remember, you can question for our Star Wars: The Old Republic episode too.

What has to be the most disappointing video game you've ever played.

Seeing how the world is going to be ending in about a year, i thought it would be apt to ask you, What is on the top of your Bucket-List?

    Mine is to

    1) Base Jump
    2) Get Married
    3) Own a House in every major city
    ...
Did i mention that this is all in Skyrim? ...

There will definitely be a lot of big games next year that everyone will be on the look out for, but what games do you think have the potential to really surprise people and potentially be the sleeper hit of 2012? Also will G4 put extra attention on these games because of the potential they carry, like you guys did with Saints Row: The Third this year?

Am I the only person excited for The Secret World? Despite Funcom's previous failures I think TSW is going to turn out incredibly awesome, especially given the credentials of the lead dev team members.

Since 3D doesnt seem to be going anywhere and the rumors of new consoles on the way, do you think the next generation of system software will embrace 3D more openly, and by that i mean make games where gameplay is actually dependent on the 3D and if so what types of games would the Feedback Panel want to see made with 3D in mind.

Seeing as we're soon reaching a plateau for graphics, where do you think the focus in advancement will take place? Could it be in a cinematic direction a la Uncharted or improved narrative as seen in L.A. Noir?

Can and/or will Kevin Pereira ever be featured on Feedback? I know this doesn't fit with the Star Wars Old Republic question posed, but I was curious nonetheless!

So I have been playing Star Wars the Old Republic and I have to say I like it so far, it's not great and It feels kinda old, but the stories, voice acting... and just the fact that it is star wars totally make up for any of it's short comings. How do you all feel about the game? Do think it will crash and burn like Porkens or make enough money to build your own death star?

If 2012 is the world as we know it ends and we become a post apocalyptic world and you survive what is your plan?

What do you predict for the launch of Dust 514?

Will Planetside 2 hit open beta or launch next year?

What do you predict for the launch of the PS Vita?

How awesome will Twisted Metal be?

The features coming to Nintendo's new console, the Wii U, seem rather mediocre, if not superfluous. I'm skeptical of the prospect of Nintendo reclaiming enough market-share to withstand the launch of Microsoft and Sony's consoles in 2013.

Will Nintendo's nastalgic IPs be enough to save the Wii U, or do you foresee Nintendo's lame-duck console being blown out of the water just one year after its release?

Will G4 encourage more of their staff to play games on more than one or two platform next year? So that reviews will cover multiplatform games properly than just focusing on the one platform like with Battlefield 3 review, where there's significance differences between the consoles and PC version, but the PC version was hardly mentioned at all in the review. I feel that the Witcher 2 was largely snubbed by the G4 staff, hence why it wasn't nominated on best art direction and writing category for best of 2011, was because a majority of the staff was waiting for the Xbox version, even though Witcher 2 has the hallmarks of any great RPGs that can compare to any quality RPGs Bethesda and Bioware have made i.e. great story, characters, quests, combat, etc. that should be played as soon as it's out instead of waiting for months to play it. Would you guys do the same for Skyrim or Mass Effect 3? Nope, you would play it as soon as you can get your hands on it.

Coming back and remaking movies and sometimes games is becoming more popular now days. If you could choose some games for developers to remake, which ones would you choose?

P.S. I personally would choose; Skies of Arcadia and Eternal Darkness.

Personally, the worst thing to happen to gaming this year is the over-reliance on preorder DLC to sell a product. Those DLCs have turned into the new "exclusive" and its getting very tiresome. Do you think we need to implement a stricter consumer protection policy like Europe or just let it take its course and normalize itself here in the US? Alternatively, what in your opinion is the worst thing to happen to gaming this year?

We will likely be seeing the introduction of new consoles in 2012 from Sony and Microsoft, and I was wondering what new features the Feedback panel would like to see in this next generation.

With the massive success of Call of Duty, we saw publishers try to force multiplayer into everything. Now with the massive success of Skyrim, do you think publishers will allow more developers to focus on single player?

A lot of franchises this year had their 3rd installment and a lot of them closed their storylines with some such as Diablo and Mass Effect still on the way. Where do you see the developers of those franchises go from there? Do you think they'll continue to work on those franchises personally, give them to a sister studio or would you rather they develop new IP's going forward?

With Motion Controls being the biggest trend of 2011 despite a huge lacking in decent software to help sell the hardware/peripherals.

What do you think game developers need to do game wise to make motion controls work for 2012? (This includes the Wii as well as Kinect and Move.)

Developing games has become increasingly more accessible with tools like the XNA and mod kits for PC games. Do you think that 2012 will give us more indie games that rival, in terms of quality, many of the AAA titles that are slated for the next year? Also, what do think is in store for the indie game market as a whole for the next year?
