Hello my little Sith and Jedi. Next week on Feedback we're going to be discussing all things video games. Our games of the week will be Star Wars: The Old Republic. Are you as relieved as we are BioWare and EA finally release it? Do you have any questions you want our expert panelists to answer? Then use this comment section as your chance to ask them. Write concise, video game related questions and your chances of being chosen will increase. Trust me, I pick the questions. And If we do read your question you'll win a mystery prize.

I ask this as a experienced MMO player and with the idea that a game launch back in the days of old, say Everquest, Darkage, even WoW, it seems companies had at least a few months before the general population of characters could hit max level and start to ponder about newer, fresher content. In today's age, with a 7 day headstart, are people going to hit the wall faster than ever and cut off the monthly subscription? Will this game have to "Jump the Shark" and perhaps adopt a free to play model faster just to keep people interested and strung along so updates, content and expansions aren't rushed?

Does Star Wars: The Old Republic support voice chat? (In the Beta SWTOR did not have voice chat. Beta Squadron 238 - Naga Sadow).
What E or T rated game made you cuss/swear the most?
Mine was 'Psychonauts' the 'Meat Circus' level, and I completed the game 100%. It is a great and fun game, but that _______ 'Meat Circus' level. Aaarrrgggghhhh!

Like some of the other members on this site I also have a Feedback question about SWTOR.
1. Bioware didn't have a 'traditional' launch of their new MMO in my opinion. Instead of letting every player in at the same time, they had waves of invites and some people had to wait 2-3 days later to get in the Early Access before the release. I imagine they did this in order to have a much smoother release of their new game, but their community were in a frenzy the first couple of days for not being allowed to play straight away. Do you think they would have received less 'hate' from the community if they instead allowed everyone in at the same time, or will MMO players always have something to complain about? What do you reckon is the 'best' way of releasing a MMO.
2. I've heard some people worried that Bioware writers won't have enough freedom to make a good game with such a protective IP as Star Wars. I believe that it is a good thing that it is protected, so the writers has to stay 'true' to the universe created. Do you guys think it's a good think to have a protected IP or should we put the trust in the writers to make the decision of what should be added/changed in the IP.

I have never played an MMO before and quite honestly I didn't really care to. However, I found myself getting very excited about all of the news leading up to the launch of The Old Republic and I think I am going to buy it. Is there any advice that I can have as I am nervous about getting involved with a game that I must pay for whenever I want to play it. Also is it really worth the money? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Also I love the new Feedback keep up the good work Blair.

Hello, everyone. Love the show you guys put on every week. I always look forward to them.
Here's something the panel might be okay with answering.
Out of all the events that you guys have covered (such as Comic-Con, E3, TGS, EVO, and more....) which one is your absolute favorite and why?

What do you feel makes these games (MMO) so popular? Like with Call of Duty you have a huge fan-base. How is that community different and how does a developer approach that difference?

Do you think the Old Republic will have a long lasting stay like WOW?

Well I like sports games and HATE the fact that EA has a strangle hold on the NFL, Will it always be like this or someday will other companies be able to make NFL games?

My friend and I are starting a our own game studio here in the next 6 months or so. We already have a mobile game that has been developed and we are polishing/ fixing a few bugs that it has. The only problem that we have really come across is marketing. How would you suggest marketing it, because something tells me that word of mouth isn't going to be enough to get enough income to keep the studio up and running.

What is the worst case of a video game series jumping the shark?

Do you think that MMOs are set to be the main form of gaming towards the future?

For a person who enjoys mmo's but may not be a giant Star Wars fan, would I still be able to enjoy a game like SWTOR?
Do you think it would have hurt the sales of SWTOR if Bioware had decided not to make a space mmo without a name as large as Star Wars behind it?
vipofthc
i think i would rather watch reruns of previeous episodes of aots or something rather than hours of Cops and bomb patrol ect. just my input

Bethesda has revealed that they plan to release DLC for Skyrim. I know many people maintain that the phenomenon of "DLC" has been an attempt by publishers to squeeze a few more dollars out of gamers by withholding content that should have been released at launch. Given the sheer size of Skyrim, do Bethesda's plans quell that argument, or is Bethesda simply an anomaly when it comes to DLC?

Since SWTOR is all about story, what class are you most looking forward to and what class are you least looking forward to?

I'm happy that The Old Republic is finally coming out. So I wanted to ask you guys, if you're going to play Star Wars: The Old Republic, which faction, class, and advance class are you going to play? Plus, if you are already playing the game, what aspect of it you like the most and which is your least favorite? Is it story, companions, crafting, pvp, etc.
Also the new Mass Effect 3 trailer is awesome!

Many feedbacks ago you briefly touched on what you believe Star Wars: The Old Republic to need in order to be a well established MMO. When going up against the powerhouses like such as WoW and others, what can Star Wars: The Old Republic bring to the table that will give them an advantage over other MMO's? Are they just relying on the Star Wars universe to get people to join or is there more to it than just that?

The recent move by Viacom to block the "The Last of Us" trailer to be aired on YouTube until VGAs were mentioned in the title has a lot of people in an uproar. Naughty Dog, who developed the game and the trailer, were the ones who posted the trailer to their official YouTube channel. They, however, likely gave the Viacom owned Spike TV exclusive first reveal rights to show the trailer during the VGAs. So you have 2 distinct sides to this argument.
Did Viacom go too far with flexing their contractual muscles in claiming copyright infringement and blocking the original video post?
Or were they well within their rights, similar to specific TV channels maintaining broadcast rights to sports events? The TV channels don't own the teams but claim exclusive rights to show those events.

A resent survey said that 2011 has been one of the worst years for them individually, my question is do you feel like video games are not doing enough to make pull people away from daily life. Skyrim comes to mind for me but this is just one game in a pool of many great games released this year. Do you guys think its a social problem that people are so ingrained in "life" that we find it hard to fully get lost in a game?

Hi all.
Here's one for you. I recently experienced YLOD with my old school 80gb PS3 FAT. Of course, it couldn't be fixed (and I did not want to send it to Sony). So I had to buy another one.
Now, here's what happened. I was in the process of backing up all my game saves manually to an external hdd and noticed that my Dead Island saves were not allowing the option of doing this. The only option available to back up my Dead Island saves was to the PSN PLUS Cloud save system, which of course, you have to pay for. So in other words, all of my games allowed me to back up without a problem except for this particular one, and now I feel like I'm being strong-armed into purchasing the service just to be able to back up my ONE save and be able to copy it over to my new PS3.
Question: Are these copy protected saves a covert con placed by Sony to get me. as well as others, to giver them more of our hard earned money? Or I am I just over thinking this? Sounds to me like something rotten is going on and I am concerned that these bully tactics will be more common place in the future. I understand that Sony needs to make money, but this seems like the wrong way to do it.
Thanks! You guys are the best.
