It recently came out that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword contains a game-breaking glitch that can prevent further progress in the story if a sequence of events unfolds in a very specific way. Nintendo isn't known for its post-release support on the Wii -- in fairness, Wii games have a tendency to be relatively bug free -- but there have been patches released on the console in the past to correct problems.
The company's Japanese website has been updated to confirm the existence of the Zelda glitch, with the promise of a fix to come soon (via Andriasang). Those who have had their saved game affected by the glitch will have two options: a downloadable fix beamed straight to your console or, for those without an Internet connection, a mailed in SD card or console which Nintendo will apply the fix to and then send back. There's no word yet on how the fix will be implemented outside of Japan, but we've checked in with Nintendo of America for clarification.

This is just further proof of how G4 is bias against Nintendo. When they do a report on a glitch in a Zelda game and not one single story was every reported about the glizillion glitches in Skyrim yet they worship that game like its the second coming.Skyrim really is nothing more than a D and D simulator with tons of glitches.Give me a JRPG that actually lets me play charcters with a sense of back story and lets me take on that character's personal journey and not some boring create your own swallow, character in a LOTR ripoff, fetch quest.

LIke I stated elsewhere..WHO was the first to find this glitch

This reminds me of the glitch in Twilight Princess where you couldn't save in the cave where you find the cannon or it will "break" the game. But I never ran into that one nor this [SS] glitch.

I'm glad to hear this. Wasn't a problem for me, but still. Nintendo could have just said, "Oh, not a lot of people will run into the glitch anyway, so whatevs." But no, they are fixing it.

Well, to trigger the glitch, you'd have to go out of your way to complete the game in an order that doesn't make sense. You'd also have to speak with a very specific character at a very specific time when doing so. So, the likelihood of the glitch occurring normally is quite low. That being said, I'll just download the patch when it's available.

It's good to know they are going to fix it! :P

You guys are gonna think I'm crazy but I made a copy of my file after meeting up with Levias just to see if I could trigger this infamous glitch. I got the Thunder Dragon's part of the song before I even entered Faron Woods or Eldin Volcano, then I talked to Golo. Nothing happened & I could still progress. What did I do wrong? (BTW this glitch is extremely unlikely to trigger & if anyone thinks it should hurt Skyward Sword's reputation is full of it; They are gonna patch it anyway)

Wait... I thought it was stated in the past that games were not patchable on the Wii? Isn't that why in the past the only option was to mail in your save game when there were big bugs?

I'm planning on going to the desert last. This really should show Nintendo what they should be doing with the WiiU, which is making it possible to patch games.

There goes game of the year! AC:R FTW :D

You could mail in your console and wait 6-8 weeks to get it back, OR you can just restart the game and beat it next week. Just ask for the SD card... or get internet.

watch out spoilers!!:
When you collect the parts of the song of the hero you can visit the three areas in a random order. but if you visit lanayru desert first the glitch appears makeing the other areas unable to complete.
