Is The Next Batman Game Called "Arkham World?"

Batman: Arkham City Joker

This weekend at the VGAs, Mark Hamill may have revealed the name of the next Batman game. While accepting an award, "The Joker," played by Hamill, was clutching a script titled "Batman: Arkham World." The Joker then threw the script in the trash, saying "Oops, spoilers!" Check it out:

So, was this an early reveal of the title of the next Batman game? Or was this simply a joke? There is no way of knowing for now, but here's the evidence we have: Mark Hamill has said he's retiring from playing the Joker, so there's that -- maybe Remedy was just making a joke... But on the other hand, the VGAs are hardly an informal affair, and they obviously had to think about it before animating the segment, so I think there's a pretty good chance that will end up being the title.

I've put a call in to Arkham publisher Warner Brothers to get an official comment on the "joke," but haven't heard back yet. I'll let you know what they say when I do.

Okay, if theres gonna be a next batman game, first of all, no Arkham. It could take place in Gotham, in the future, where joker's baby grows up somewhere in the city and Bruce Wayne faces his midlife crisis and a confusion to retire as Batman. Adding Terry Mcginnis could be good, who comes to Bruce to succeed him. Joker's son, in the city, builds a new crime mob. Thus, there could be new villains in the city. Like Anarky, Calculator, Clock King, Ventriloquist. It would be great if the story whirls around Joker's son, cinematics showing a dark room, with a person, covered in shadows, sitting on a chair wid Harley roaming around him. Flashbacks from Arkham City could be shown.
    just my thought

In the Game, where you get poisoned by Joker, their was a pregnacy test and it read positive. so im thinking that Harley Quinn is pregnant with Joker's Kid.

Here's an idea. Joker fakes his death knowing batman would carry him out of arkham city and on his way the mourge, he attacks. Then Joker returns to arkham city releasing two face, bane, penguin, etc and attack Gothom. And maybe a co-op system campaign could be entered playing as Robin and Nightcrawler and their story they did while Batman saves gothom in the single player campaign.

Personally I think a possible idea for the next game is in Gotham city, the one issue is that all of the super villians(penguin, two face, etc) they are all still locked up in arkham city. I think a possible scenario is they discover batmans true identity and attack gotham city. Or something to that sort. Also at the end Hugo says like execute protocol 11. and along with the positive on the baby, also in the begining of arkham city harley is saying joker isnt what he is usually like well he was earlier. PROOF!

I don't think it really has be an "arkham" game because who knows what happens in Gotham. You guys are stuck in a mindset that all of the action happens in arkham. Remember batman is in GOTHAM! And arkham world does not make sense. If it is a big crisis like that it would involve other dc heroes like superman and wonder woman. Even if so it would kill the originality of the rocksteady's reputation of making quality games like batman. Do you guys remember the side mission in arkham city that involved azreal? If you finished the side mission, it hinted something about batman's fate so that might be a hint to a sequel. Also for those who think that there will be a batman beyond sequel. It may or may not happen. It depends if rock steady want to stick with the New Earth dimension or the batman beyond dimension. Yea that's right, batman beyond was not suppose to be in the original timeline. Srry guys I'm a big batman nerd, I'm just pointing things out

Ok like of you i was a bit skeptical about a follow up to Arkham city cause it seemed like they closed everything but I just learned recently that it may happen cause I read about 2 Easter eggs in Arkham city which one reveals a secret lab of scarecrows and another tells u that next to Harley's old suit in the steel mill that there are a bunch of pregnancy test showing positive(sorry if I spoiled it to those who didn't find them yet) and also the guards saying Arkham world and then the joke holding a script for Arkham world, I don't think it's just a coincidence....

    @FPSCH4MP
Batman Beyond takes place 60 years in the future.

And this Arkham World thing was confirmed as a joke by Rocksteady. The interview is on Game Informer's website.

I just toke it as a joke. Don't expect to hear anything about a new game anytime soon.

But I agree with BONERJAM and Gotham City is the next location that makes the most sense. We are just playing the waiting game now.

obviously they don't mean literally that you play all around the world.
maybe you play in a bigger arkham prison with inmates from around the world. or they could also say that there is a new prison and batman has to stop the arkham city idea from being done world wide

How would Hamill slip it out when it was shown in a cg scene specially made for it? I doubt Mark forced Rocksteady to do it, so its a blatantly obvious joke. Besides there isn't any way of handling the batman game as a global adventure unless they remove the sandbox like style seen in City.

    Also...
"They seem to me to be more of a carefully choreographed public relations event than a casual, jokey, throwaway affair"
Really? You call someone getting "choked out" then teabagged by some guy in a cheap military outfit anything BUT jokey and throwaway? I watched the thing, and forced myself to ignore everything but the trailers. It's spike attempting to try and seem cool to the lowest common denominator. They also managed to tick off Hamill and Tara Strong (the latter voiced Harley Quinn) with how they were treated at the event.

giving the popularity of Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City I have no doubt a third game is in the works at some stage of development, but who's too say anything about it's settings, storyline or anything else this early on? It's like going and guessing on what Slient Hill 9 will be about, even though 8 a.k.a Downpour is'nt even out yet. oh and I think the friend of user FPSCH4MP is lying, wants attention or his friend'd cousin is lying or wants attention.either way I doubt the next batman game will be set 30 years in the future, if anything they'll probably use elements from the recent reboot of the Dc universe.

THIS IS NOOOO JOKE, I SWEAR ON MY GRANDPAS GRAVE! My friend at school his cousin is the concept artist for these past two Batman games (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City), and his cousin told him that the next Batman game will be set 30 years into the future, MEANING, Batman Beyond! He DID NOT tell him the title all he said was that it was set 30 years in the future and that people are REALLY going to enjoy the graphics and the setting. Hope this helped I'll inform if there is anything else PEACE!

"carefully choreographed public relations event than a casual, jokey, throwaway affair." based on what I've heard and read, the VGAs were exactly a jokey, throwaway affair. It was just a bunch of gimmicks, with hardly any time actually devoted to the nominees when they were being highlighted. I didn't watch them, but based on who I've talked to, I didn't miss out on much. Girls eating cup cakes off a conveyor belt? I thought it was supposed to be about games. But its from Spike, so what do you expect.

That being said. I don't think Arkham World would end up being that good... just imagining it. I know Batman travels all over the place in the comics in search for people. But I don't really think it would lend itself well to a game. But they deffinitely have something coming. Like people have said, with the end of AC. And theres Hush to deal with and getting to know Azrael and find out what he was talking about about the gates of hell or whatever. So based on what I saw in the game, they are deffinitely gonna have more, but what the scope is, I don't know. I feel like moving into Gotham proper would be the next move. Cause Arkham City is only a fraction of Gotham.

I believe there is a 100% chance for a new Arkham game because of what happens during the credits if you watch them all the way through. You hear something that make sit extremely likely for a new one, and maybe this time around we actually get to see what Robin and Nightwing are doing this whole time. :D

Mark Hamill has already stated that people had taken what he said out of proportions and that he never ACTUALLY said he was retiring from the Joker. That being said, he also questioned whether it would be wise to continue.... it really depends on whether or not he feels he's reached his peak here. There IS such thing as too much of a good thing, ya know....

But seriously. As long as he continues with the trend of his increasing fan base and as long as the story lines keep him intrigued, I think Hamill will stick around for a bit longer.
