Now that most of us have poured 50+ hours into The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, that great, big world is starting to seem just a little bit smaller. Director Todd Howard talked with Joystiq about what the future holds for the game at Saturday's Video Game Awards, and it's one that of course includes downloadable content.
He said that the development team's focus is on finding "ways to make the game better, not just have more, because the game is so big. So we're going through ideas right now, and processing everything people are doing in the game, and trying to think of ways that we can improve it." Howard said to expect multiple DLC releases, but cautioned fans not to get too excited just yet. "They won't be quick, and they'll have a lot of meat on them."
One thing that very likely WON'T be changing in any DLC or patch releases is the awesome bucket-on-head thievery trick. You might remember seeing this pop up shortly after Skyrim's release. Basically, if you plop a bucket or cauldron or some similar object on a person's head in the game, you effectively break their line of sight and give yourself free reign to steal anything that isn't nailed down.
Howard recalls first seeing a video of the trick in action shortly after the game's release, and the conversations that ensued at Bethesda as a result. ""It was like day two, and we went, what? Do we fix that? Our lead programmer is pissed and wants to fix it, and I said I'm not sure we should," he explained. "That's one of those where maybe we leave it in."

Funny how comments from real gamers are getting thumbs down while comments from casual gamers are getting thumbs up.

FUS-RO-DAH!
Speaking of Skyrim DLC's, I have a prediction for what they are going to be. Hammerfell, High rock, Cyrodill, and Morrowind. There are roads to the 4 province of Tamriel and they all lead off the map towards the 4 provinces of Tamriel. I followed the roads and all had an end when it came to the edge of the map of Skyrim. They also did say that the DLC aren't going to be little addons like horse armor or Fighters stronghold, but instead, like shivering isle and Mournhold(Morrowind). Most likely the 4 provinces surrounding Skyrim, I'm guessing that Cyrodiil is going to be the first so they don't have to do that much work from Oblivions model of Cyrodiil, but I could be wrong with the order, I mean who knows, it could be High Rock or Hammerfell first.

Am i the only one who wants separate save files for different characters? i have saved over at least 80 hours of gameplay by mistake.
also with the ps3 lag i usually solve it getting of Skyrim for a while. yep that's right... you just have to put the controller down for a couple hours.

How about everyone stop complaining and let Bethesda do their job. Things will get fixed. If you complain to a cook they spit in your food.
Godsen002
how about actually making something for ps3 that isn't broken?... Sykrim automatically loses GOTY because they shipped a broken game. I haven't been able to touch my copy in 2 weeks because of all the bugs.
Sarge494
how about fixing the major main quest glitches

About the Skyrim lag issues on PS3... I definitely had issues here and there with it, but after the mos recent patch, it's fine.
Granted, even before the patch, the lag issues never lasted too long. I've put in at least 150+ hours into the game already and have about 7 save files.

This fool is talking about DLC?! Fix yo game Bethesda! Game of the year my ass. More like shiest of the year.

I want them to flesh out the marriage option. As it currently stands it gives only a little benefit and adds nothing story-wise. Maybe have a "loyalty" quest line a la Mass Effect or have a rescue your kidnapped spouse quest.

I have the ps3 version, and my lag started. About two weeks ago. I forget how many hours I have on it, but I do have a ton of saves...
BobitoZ
I've never bought DLC for any game due to it always felling like it was excluded content from what was shipped.
Skyrim is one game I can't make that argument.
I'm looking forward to what the dev team comes up with.

its even more laggy on xbox and people have complained about texture issues after installing it on their hard drives and the latest patch seemed to almost completely get rid of the lag except for a few twitches here and there after playing for 6+ hours, but this is one game to get on pc just because of all the mods. theres a group working on a graphics overhaul that will make the game look even more amazing and you cant get that on ps3 or xbox at all.
Ryuuk
I thought the article was referring to Meat from Fallout.
jcoleman316
Dont get it for pc...once u figure out the cheat commands like spawning in a couple 100 npcs then makeing them fight or godmode or a ton of gold..kinda ruins it.
Buckeyes67890
Meat? oooooh i hope it's meat wheels so we can roll em down mountains.
DPsx72
I don't want it, but the PS3 is still the version to get. You're wrong again.
lucidity
It won't fix the lag and stutter on the PS3 either.
Nice job winning GOTY, just make sure you get it on PC or 360.
