According to industry analysts at the NPD Group, the Xbox 360 topped the video game hardware sales charts in the all important holiday shopping month of November. The Xbox 360 sold 1.7 million units in the month. Overall, the industry's performance in terms of hardware sales was good in November, matching last year's sales numbers for the same time period. This is a pretty big accomplishment, when you consider that all three main consoles are nearing the end of their lifespan.
“Overall, the new physical portion of industry sales was essentially flat versus last November. While content sales grew substantially thanks to a great slate of new content, a decline in average retail price in all categories with the exception of portable hardware resulted in flat dollar sales even though unit sales grew for console hardware, as well as console, portable, and pc software," The NPD Group said in its monthly report.
In other words: November performed about as well as you might expect. No surprises here. Move along! Software sales, on the other hand, were booming!

It's never been an issue of which console is more powerful to the everyday consumer. At the end of the day it really is all about value for your dollar.
Just look at the Nintendo Wii for example. The reason why that console killed the PS3 and XBOX360 is simply because of the value. For 200 bucks you got the console, at lease two controllers, and a few games because it came out the gat with bundles. The 360 or PS3 couldn't answer with anything because they were both still really expensive.
Once the 360 caught on and dropped in price, we saw a sudden rise in their sales. Once they added the Kinect at such a low start price, and even lowered the price of the 360 again, at that point they was no competition fom the PS3 or even Nintendo. The Playstation is a great system, but until they are able to give a product at a resonable price, and offer so much more then what it offers now, then it will see a change in sales. But for right now, Sony caters only to the hardcore, and that's fine, but sales will always suffer when you cater to only one consumer base.

Here's the thing Microsoft does a great job of getting it's presence known. IE having it's name pop up after every game's commercial. Marketing is on top, but as someone who once owned both systems i gotta say it. PS3 wins in my book. Now I will say i did not play on Xbox live. I only played games like ME1&2 and Fable. However based on this both systems unplugged gotta give it to PS3..if anything least i don't have to worry about disc changing lol. But my beef isn't with xbox as a console tho i feel it doesn't live up to it's competition let's be honest here, how many models and STILL no bluray? My problem is with Microsoft's business model, rather than give a superior product they throw money to have their system featured and threaten developers who try to make use of ps3 exclusive technology with no allowing their game on the console. Like really? Microsoft wins by keeping this generation o gaming down from what it could really achieve because they KNOW they have the inferior product. You wanna grab xbox go for it, just spent several hours playing one myself, but do know who's getting your money and what they're doing with it.

Who really cares about hardware sales? It cant be those who already own consoles, it cant be those who are looking to buy a console..... It can only have any sort of substance to investors to keep their pockets happy.
Everyone needs to stop with the clamoring over what console is best. It needs to stop.
More people should be like me and many others..... own all 3 consoles and all the handhelds. This way you're sure to enjoy the fact that its not about the console... its about the games.
Im a die hard Sony and Playstation fan, and the games that come out for that platform attract me more than the other two consoles, but that doesnt mean that i dont like them either.
We all have a preference. And no one is going to change our own opinions about such.
Just let it go.

Awesome, no surprise there. Why do people still bring up the RROD issue like its still a problem? Ive had 5 xboxes overall and NON of them had RROD even my ZERO hour launch xbox. That idiot below said xbox is a wannabe ps3? Lol,i thought the 360 was the first to launch. Bitch be talking like PS3 dont got problems. You must be crazy.

I find it interesting that people are still buying consoles. But new generations are coming up every year with the means to buy a more mature system or additional system, so why not.
I'm still surprised there are people whose hobby is to slam another system. What a waste of time and energy. If I had a friend who did this I would tell them to go away, as I would want people in my life who have more depth and intelligence.

We know the RROD inflated the numbers, that's just common sense now. 360 will never do well outside the US so worldwide numbers are more important than just the US ones.
And since games matter most, that's what will keep the 360 in last. Nin and Sony have 3 platforms each with a multitude of excellent games, plus true exclusives. M$ only manages to buy games for 6 months to see whether they're worth the dev's porting it to a better platform. Kinect hasn't even been able to break out of the dancing genre, so that too is losing to the Wiimote and Move with their unique titles. There's just nothing else that needs to be said, this is all well known by anyone with a clue.

Honestly I am not a of the X-Box 360 period,the X-Box 360 is only the leading selling console in America but not world wide,honestly the X -Box 360 is a want to be gaming console that Micro $oft keeps pumping out and the dam console red rings on you on you in the middle of game play is so annoying,the bright side to the X Box 360 is it gets fixed for free and the hard ware just plain sucks too.Really the X-box 360 is a wanna be Play Station 3,go ahead thumb down me.Like I care .lol
