Konami has announced Metal Gear Solid: Rising has be overhauled and is now Metal Gear Rising: Revengance. Confused? Perfect, we're on the same page. The game has been in limbo for years; many questioning whether it would be released. Tonight we have learned that not only is this game still alive, it's being remade already. Platinum Games, the studio behind Bayonetta, has been tasked with reviving this title. Check out the official reveal trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengance.

They turned Metal Gear into an oversized beat-em-up? "Revenge with a vengeance." The name which combines the first and last word of that say: Revengeance? Like, really? This is just ridiculous! When I first saw MG: Rising, it looked like it'd be Metal Gear with ninja swords. The original cutting engine, the watermelon cutting scene in the original trailer, looked like a work of art. This just looks like a bad, over-the-top joke which is usually the trademark of most hack Japanese developers.

?? why use the Metal Game title? I understand it has metal gears in it...
But isn't metal gear about one man defeating overwhelming odds with his wits and what he finds on the field?
I have nothing against this game.... it just looks too much ninja gaiden and not enough metal gear...
I just love my metal gear.... and want a character that reflects that...
this character seem to be on crack or whatever juice they were talking about in the video

Oh, and what is up with the title, Revengence? Is that even a word, do the Japanese realize how stupid that sounds, because between this and "transfaring" I think they need to hire a better translator!

I think pretty much hands down the biggest let down of the day. The original concept of 1/1 stealthy swordplay was pretty cool but all this now is a Devil may cry clone hack and slash, I am sure it will be ok but does anyone really want another Japanese hack and slash?
