Konami has announced Metal Gear Solid: Rising has be overhauled and is now Metal Gear Rising: Revengance. Confused? Perfect, we're on the same page. The game has been in limbo for years; many questioning whether it would be released. Tonight we have learned that not only is this game still alive, it's being remade already. Platinum Games, the studio behind Bayonetta, has been tasked with reviving this title. Check out the official reveal trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengance.

While I will acknowledge that this game was supposed to be different (I don't think any of us were expecting a stealth title) I don't think any one expected it to be this different. Metal Gear as a universe isn't meant to be this over the top, if you look back at the original trailer (which is what i did directly after watching this) the game play looked a little slower than this, but it was in its early stages and I was excited to see where they would go with it (the environmental destruction looked extremely intriguing) im sad to hear that it was scraped completely.
If they would have kept this game in the original time frame (between mgs 2 and 4) it would have opened them up to possibly having a portion of the game playing as Raiden before he becomes a cyborg, and all the events with rose, cambell, and the patriots.
I will admit Raiden was ridiculously over the top in mgs4 at no point did it ever feel like macho bull crap. this game feels like the wrong kind of over the top, that and the dialouge feels a little corny, that might just be me though.
i wont pass judgement on this game until I play it, even if it makes a bad metal gear game, it will be a fun "what if Dante was a robot?" game, and ill probably like it on some level, but I will do my best to remember what this game could have been, and I will never forget the excitement I felt when I first saw the "slice take" e3 trailer.

This game was never intended to be the same style of game as Metal Gear Solid. That's why the title (which apparently no one remembers was different during the initial announcement years ago) is Metal Gear RISING. It's a spinoff to expand the Metal Gear universe. Everyone complaining should calm down and remember that Metal Solid 5 is in fact on the way.
This game is being made the development studio that made Bayonetta and is set in the Metal Gear universe with a focus on cyborg combat. To me, that sounds like a winner. Even if the story isn't quite up to the Metal Gear standards, the gameplay is sure to be fun.

Never thought i would say this but Hideo Kojima sold out and ruined what was sure to be a step up in gaming. Now platinum games has taken everything that made this one of the most anticipated games and is now just a bayonetta/DMC/God of War pile of crap. Tru fans of Kojima productions will know this is not even remotely related to the franchise that started it all. Sad day for Kojima productions

I have to say that I'm rather impressed with what I see, not because the hack and slash concept is new, but because its interesting to see what new aspects of the Metal Gear universe that could be explored thought this new genre. The game doesn't look original at all, but hell, even as a major Metal Gear fan, I can say that this looks awesome!

That's not a word anymore...Stop using translating books from the 18th century. That word is about as obsolete as this series, though, so maybe it works in a meta, ultra-cliched and meaningless way. Seriously, now that games can tell real stories, we don't need this weird crap anymore. I was a huge fan back in the olden days, but nostalgia ain't enough to get me to give a F.

So they handed this game over to Platinum and changed when it takes place so that they could make Vanquish 2 with a Metal Gear name on it? Seriously, nothing in that trailer tells me that this is a true Metal Gear. Having some recognizable stuff only makes this a spinoff. Metal Gear is a stealth game. Why would anyone bother with stealth if they can throw a Ray into the air and chop enemies into hamburger?

Leave it to the asian video game market to take something entirely awesome and creative and make it look like utter trash. "Revengence" really?? First they ruin Final Fantasy, Zeldas on the decline (sorry SS fans), and now metal gear. I understand its a different take on the series, but Asia: Y U MAKE EVERYTHING GAY. As much as I want to hack and slash as ellen degeneres, I don't.

what set MGS apart was it's unique stealth tactics you can use in the game, but now it's like a hash and slash kinda game. Don't get me wrong, this looks SICK!

wow. i am genuinely pissed off about this. this is my favorite franchise of all time and now they are ruining it. the best thing that could happen right now is if this died before release... again. sad. it started off so good.

For everyone who is complaining that its not a Metal Gear game. MGR is supposed to be different then MGS. Where MGS has sneaking and espionage, MGR will have more straight up action and fights. I personally, who became a fan ever since the first game, thinks it is cool where they are taking this game, which is about Raiden a cyborg ninja. It looks fun, it looks intense and I will be buying it first day, hell I'll have it pre ordered.

Look at how comics reboot nonstop, look at the batman trilogy reboot...and look at how Call of Duty does the same old thing every time...reboot is a good word people. Take a hit and open your mind. It's not what you're used to but a re-packaged deluxe everything that tastes great kinda Subway sandwich... or Quiznos if dats wut floats your boat.

What the hell happened?! I was so exited for this game, and now...it just looks so boring and un-original. There wont be any more hiding or crawling or using awsome gadgets, its just going to be another hack n' slash...
