We had our company holiday party this week, so some of us have been a little... tired recently. The great Casey Schreiner isn't immune to such problems, so it took a little coaxing to get him behind the desk for this week's The MMO Report. Today he'll discuss the fact that Final Fantasy XIV appears to be fixed, how successful the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta was, and read your stories about your first time in Uncle Casey's Mail Bag. Enjoy!

hey guys sorry if im spamming but i know that if theres anyone to ask, you guys are the ones to ask. i was just wondering how good my computer would have to be to run swtor. i think mine is a basic desktop from a couple years ago. if that's not enough, which i assume it's not, how much would a good enough computer cost do you think? sorry again, i'm obviously a noob to pc gaming :/ but thank you for your insight :)

You know, all this hack does is regurgitate BS that is said on the internet, and half the time his info is wrong...... like with FFXIV it is not finished, it was admitted that they pretty much have to start over because of the previous teams asinine antics, and so what people are paying for right now is the one time story arc that will lead into FFXIV 2.0

    Casey:

    1 1/2 2 ounces vodka
    4 ounces tomato juice
    1 tsp lemon juice
    1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco and black pepper to taste.
Pour over ice cubes and stir well. Garnish with a celery stalk. Serves 1.

First MMO was Asherons Call, I played it for 12 years. It is still going and has the best community of players I have ever seen in a game.

Beta was alright I guess. My friends are all getting it for early access, but I think I'll wait until January to see if anything new with GW2 has been announced. Maybe until February if FireFall is really coming out this month.

I am a grown ass man and I have been walking around my apartment for the last 30 minutes, swinging my hands back and forth and yelling out Swedish names in a fruity voice. I don't think I can remember having this much fun.

On second thought, I think I might be going insane...

My roommates and I all played the SWTOR beta, and loved the crap out of it. We anxiously await the next few days to get into early access and begin our sith career paths. Love it, BioWare!

@Xloppielx I couldn't agree more. I can't put my finger on what makes SWTOR so fun and addicting to me, but I must say that it is fun and am highly recommending to anyone who will ask. I was in 4 betas (including the Thanksgiving and last Beta) and just can't wait until the pre-order early access begins. I'm glad to be part of the statistics that EA/Bioware released this week. I really hope that Bioware does not mess with this Star Wars game as Sony did to Galaxies.

Actually.. 14 isn't fixed.. they are just collecting money for a year as you pay to beta the game for 2.0 which comes out after you beta test the PS3 version /facepalm. Only the purists will be willing to pay for a broken game.. that's all Squeenix is worried about.

After only getting to play in 2 of the weekend beta tests I would defiantly recommend giving this game a shot. I am a huge star wars fan and hated the first mmo. Putting aside whether or not you like star wars it seemed to be a very well built game with a great questing experience. No more clicking on some dude to show some random quest crap they voice act everything out and although not all are great performances most of them worked out very well. Graphics are not over the top god like, but they are good and with the story line for each class I would buy the game and enjoy it even with out the online experience. As for it qualifying as a great MMO not really sure, due to my personal belief that a good mmo should have a great way to bring people together for end game content that is enjoyable to play over and over till newer content is released. So for all those out there thinking ohh god another star wars game so I must hate on it, shame on you. And really, who doesn't secretly want to run around with a light saber hacking away at stuff?
