Beenox, the developer of Spider-Man: Edge of Time and Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, announced the newest installment in the series The Amazing Spider-Man during New York Comic-Con 2011. There weren't a lot of details available during the initial reveal, but a few days ago when some early images came out on Twitter.
Now, you can get a real first look at The Amazing Spider-Man in this new trailer.
Based on the 2012 theatrical release of the same name, The Amazing Spider-Man will return to a more open world format, which is a departure from the brawler-type gameplay we've seen in the past few years.

I like that the franchise is returning to an open world setting.

Glad to see the open world style return. Never played the original games based on the first 3 movies, but I did play Web of Shadows and I thought it was great. It had flaws and could have been better in some ways, but I really enjoyed it and thought the controls were much better than Shattered Dimensions. Don't really care that it's New York again, but nowadays with so much DLC, I'm sure we might get some new areas eventually.
Maybe since it's "based on the movie"(not sure how many robots to expect in the movie, really. lol), we'll see more personal story elements? Interactions with other characters and whatnot... I'm not sure how popular DLC was when Web of Shadows came out, but now it is way more emphasized so I expect to see some add-ons. If they don't, then I will say it's about time to let go of Beenox as their "official Spider-Man game go-to developer"

first off you all need to realize this trailer is pre made this is not game play.... second I am so tired of swinging around new york... they basically make they same game every time just different villains... im sorry spiderman for being owned by a crappy company!!!

It looks just weird enough, and just different enough from the movie, that it might have a fighting chance. Here's hoping. Spiderman 2 was genius, 3 was a terrifying, awful, writhing corpse of a game, and haven't played the most recent ones. I'm at least glad they're returning to the open world format.

ughhhhhhhhhhhh sick of new york city already man. granted thats where spiderman lives, and swinging around manhattan in spiderman 2 was fuggin cool, but now its just kind of boring :/

Big Spider-man fan, will be getting this anyway. But I certainly hope we could play in his original costume because his movie costume is just plain ugly.

You can't determine the quality of the game based on a CGI movie.

So, wait, if this is based on the new (and unneeded) film does that mean the new film has giant robots in it?
AmericanKing01
At least you can swing through the city, thats something right?

Looks really good. Can't wait to play. And Spider man versus robots is as good as it gets.
