The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Has A Game Breaking Glitch -- Nintendo Responds

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword

A game-breaking glitch has been discovered in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The problem occurs during the Song of the Hero quest. If players get the song of the Thunder Dragon from Lanaryu Mine, speak with the Goron, beat the Thunder Dragon mission, and then speak to Golo the Goron again, an error somehow occurs. If players complete this sequence of events, it will be impossible to continue the game with that save file.

Nintendo is aware of the situation but sadly there is not a solution, nor is there any indication a patch will ever be issued.

Keep reading for Nintendo's response and words of advice.

"We have been made aware of the issue that results in being unable to progress in the Song of the Hero quest. If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.

  1. The situation is caused by performing the following sequence of events during the Song of the Hero quest:
  2. At the beginning of the quest, go to Lanayru Desert to retrieve the song of the Thunder Dragon.
  3. In the Lanayru Mine, speak with Golo the Goron.
  4. Complete the Thunder Dragon's event, and receive his song.
  5. Before heading to the forest or volcano regions, speak with Golo in the mine again.
  6. At this point, the forest and volcano events will no longer occur, making it impossible to continue.

Solutions:

This issue WILL NOT OCCUR if the Fire and Water Dragon songs have already been collected before collecting the Thunder Dragon's song. Talking to Golo in the Lanayru Caves will also NOT trigger this issue.

If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.

I wish I had a better answer, but I'm afraid there currently is no other fix available. I can assure, however, that we are documenting all feedback we receive on this issue. Thank you for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Sharon Matheny"

Needless to say this is an unfortunate situation for Zelda fans. I'm a little disappointed Nintendo isn't being more proactive to resolve this issue. I hope a patch is issued quickly. Having to delete your save file and start anew is not acceptable in my book.

What do you think?

Um it's just a small glitch. Skyrim has a ton of glitches. ESPECIALLY with the new update and people don't bitch about it.

wow ok one glitch... not compared to skyrim's hundred glitches but hell both games are kick ass!

ok, first thing, skyrim is riddled with bugs, and glitches, this is the first one for SS, second, you have to do the things in the particular order to have the glitch happen, Skyrim you could be out picking berries and have to start the game over, third i do believe that in the game it tells you to do the forest and volcano ones first, but what do i know, im just a "8 year old zelda fanboy who doesnt even know graphics or a good game when i see one" in the words of the soar losers.

P.S. im 17 and love skyrim and am a zelda fan, so much that im going to get at least one tattoo of zelda. why is that because zelda will be around forever. skyrim wont. and i hate my self for bring up skyrim in this that has nothing to do with skyrim but the Skyrim fans are now bashing zelda because of this ONE glitch.

All you have to do is get the song and then leave you don't have to talk to the goron. I don't think there is a reason to talk to him. I had no problem with this and Nintendo said what to do that will fix the problem so I don't see why a patch would be useful.

At least Bethesta patches their games.

I wouldn't say that Nintendo should fix it since you have to talk to the goron in order for the glitch to work.

"Talking to Golo in the Lanayru Caves will also NOT trigger this issue." There is your answer to the problem.

So no Nintendo doesn't have to fix something that you can avoid easily. I had no problem with this since I did not think to talk to him again.

What he said fixes the problem. So I don't see what a patch for this would do anything.

I wouldn't say that Nintendo should fix it since you have to talk to the goron in order for the glitch to work. I don't think you read what he said.

Yes, zelda fanboys still have room to talk crap about skyrim. This glitch is easy to get around, and is not as bad as G4 mkes it out to be. Skyrim, on the other hand, is full of glitches, and still needs a crapload of patches to get it ANYWHERE near the perfection of Skyward Sword.

So piss off. Don't get butthurt because Skyward Sword has made it to the finals, and is not even runner up.

    Skyward sword: wii... winner.
Skyrim: 360, ps3, AND pc... 3 platforms... and still lost.

I had to force a restart while picking berries in Skyrim. I didn't see any headlines saying "omg the game is a buggy nightmare", which is actually true.

This is G4's way of justifying Saints Row replacing SS for GoTY and Skyrim even being on the list despite how broken it is...

Or it's just another one of my conspiracies????

see this is why it doesn't deserve to win the game of the year.

Well, now all the Skyward Sword fanboys hating on Elder Scrolls Skyrim for its current glitchiness have no room to talk trash now, do they? -_-

Never had this problem, as i'm sure i was told to go to the forest first to get the water dragons song section, although as i'm now on my "hero" playthrough i've not gotten back to that part as i just collect everything now. I'll find out, when i eventually get back to the song of the hero quest, Hero mode is a great challange.

Yet even the mighty G4 gave this game a 5 out of 5, and everyone else is giving it 10 out of 10...ha what' cha thinkin now? Nintendo can't even finish a product on a console, and this is proof. A purposely unfinished game...shame on you.

While extremely rare on a Nin platform, I suppose the lengths and complexity of games these days are going to lead to occasional problems. I'm glad to know about this before accidentally triggering it.
