A game-breaking glitch has been discovered in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The problem occurs during the Song of the Hero quest. If players get the song of the Thunder Dragon from Lanaryu Mine, speak with the Goron, beat the Thunder Dragon mission, and then speak to Golo the Goron again, an error somehow occurs. If players complete this sequence of events, it will be impossible to continue the game with that save file.
Nintendo is aware of the situation but sadly there is not a solution, nor is there any indication a patch will ever be issued.
Keep reading for Nintendo's response and words of advice.
"We have been made aware of the issue that results in being unable to progress in the Song of the Hero quest. If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.
- The situation is caused by performing the following sequence of events during the Song of the Hero quest:
- At the beginning of the quest, go to Lanayru Desert to retrieve the song of the Thunder Dragon.
- In the Lanayru Mine, speak with Golo the Goron.
- Complete the Thunder Dragon's event, and receive his song.
- Before heading to the forest or volcano regions, speak with Golo in the mine again.
- At this point, the forest and volcano events will no longer occur, making it impossible to continue.
Solutions:
This issue WILL NOT OCCUR if the Fire and Water Dragon songs have already been collected before collecting the Thunder Dragon's song. Talking to Golo in the Lanayru Caves will also NOT trigger this issue.
If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.
I wish I had a better answer, but I'm afraid there currently is no other fix available. I can assure, however, that we are documenting all feedback we receive on this issue. Thank you for your patience and support.
Sincerely,
Sharon Matheny"
Needless to say this is an unfortunate situation for Zelda fans. I'm a little disappointed Nintendo isn't being more proactive to resolve this issue. I hope a patch is issued quickly. Having to delete your save file and start anew is not acceptable in my book.
What do you think?

My husband is currently playing Skyward Sword, and while we haven't stumbled upon the glitch yet (we already have the Water Dragon flame) we have found nothing on how to play the Thunder Dragon quest last. The game instructs you to go to the Forest Temple first, to get the Water Dragon flame, and then to Lanaryu desert. If anyone knows how to save this one for last, we'd love to hear it.

If only Nintendo would use foresight enough to make patchable games. It shouldn't be that complicated. It's like Zelda 2 all over again. It's a game that was glitched from the start. Nintendo, I love me some Zelda. Please be smart enough to include patchable games in the future.

I hate gamebreakers. I just wrote this down in my notebook.

i'm assuming i haven't hit this glitch because i am already at the 2nd forest temple and i am continuing to play... the article is kind of vague as to when this happens in the game but i'm assuming its the first time you visit lanayru that it does
Flight_Eagle
Woooow this article brought out some trolls. Not the good kind either.
Buttonpusher seems a little high on their horse, too.

and for you die-hard Zelda fans.... Link to the Past=Best Zelda ever I've played every Zelda so screw what you think

I also love how the "solutions" are described as solutions. Um, a solution is a fix to a problem.... I will tell you what a solution is NOT --- not causing the problem to occur... Um, the problem is a bug. The solution is back on the developer's programming dept.'s desks.... Oh, oops, i guess it's too late for Nintendo to "patch" their game since the bug is already on every disc now. I believe it's time for Nintendo to stop playing around and get a bit more serious in this multi-billion dollar industry, especially since Zelda is Nintendo's IP.

Just a shout out to all you developers out there... I remember a time when you had to have your game 99.8% bug-free, or else your game did not make it to mass-production in time. Oh no, a delayed game release! OMG! Gone are those days. Now it's push, push, push that game out onto the shelves so we can make that sweet money.... I am sick and tired of this BS "oh we'll just patch it later" attitude the gaming industry has adopted. Do your jobs, fix the issues, THEN ship the game.... You may generate a few less dollars in the long run, but when a gamer tells another gamer to wait on a game purchase because the game has "tons of bugs", you need to sit back in your chair, and ask yourselves, "why aren't more gamers buying our game?"

I've been playing video games since the invention of the controller. Yes, I'm old. I've played every Zelda console game. It's pretty sad that a game based on fanboys' high expectations ends up with game-breaking bug. Even more, it's pretty sad that the deathmatch between this junk of a Zelda game (that got a 4 out of 5) and the best single-player RPG of all time (which also has bugs, yet received a 5 out of 5) ended up with the worse game winning.... All I have to say is, there you go fanboys, bask in the light of your un-patchable junk. I'd love to see Zelda get game of the year now, for if it does, then we all know how fanboys' votes will always outweigh a gamer's intelligence.

I have not experienced anything wrong with Skyrim at all so I don't see why this has not happened to me , and i play it a lot
From what i hear skyward sword is easy, my friend beat it in about 6 hours
Girl_gamer4ever
Aw man i wonder if this is gonna hurt Skyward Sword in the Videogame Deathmatch... :(
~I'm voting for SS anyway ;) i love the Zelda series too much.
Girl_gamer4ever
Good thing i learned about this before i was on that quest. This is really disappointing..but whatever.
I <3 The Legend of Zelda!!!!!!!! (and i feel bad for the ones that had to start all over again)

Unfortunately, I did experienced a 'game breaking ' glitch in Phantom Hourglass twice. It's not fun, at all. However, there is a way to get around the glitch in Skyward Sword, so I'm a bit hopeful form that.

Okay, I'll just say this. Almost EVERY game has a "game-breaking" glitch somewhere. Like Dead Island with the save issue and being released too early. With Skyrim my friend had a glitch where he would run in place and was stuck. It took 2 weeks for it to be fixed and he finally returned to it. Now I've been a fan of the Legend of Zelda series since the Super Nintendo age, but I also play Skyrim a lot and also played Oblivion. So this "game-breaking" issue is NOT that big of an issue. There are ways around it and it is not like you are destined to run into it and they posted a way you can get around it. I have yet to play Skyward Sword as I don't own a Wii. But I would however get a Wii just for this series because of nostalgia.

Ok, WHO DIVIDED BY ZERO. MISSINGNO is laughing in his Lazy Boy.

It's not really anyone's say whether a game is "Good" or "Bad". These kind of choices are based on someone's personal opinion and experience. So to all you different Skyrim and Skyward Sword fans (and all you other ones too), stop comparing and complaining about games you don't even like! Whether you like it or don't like it isn't going to make that much of a difference, and actually, no one really cares about what you think.
I'm just saying, if you think a game is good or bad, sure, you can say it. But don't just go ahead throwing out the insults to people who actually like the game. I mean, if you like the game that much, and you hate another one, why are you here complaining anyways? Is it because you want to play the game if it got any better and you're trying to give some sort of advice to whoever may be watching? If your answer is no, just be quiet and stop being five year-olds about it. Besides, a game wouldn't have fans if it wasn't SOMEWHAT good. So please, relax yourself, and stop being in "defense mode" as if someones trying to insult your taste of gaming. Which, by the way, isn't something to be insulted about, because again, no one really should care. This is a "Comment" section not a "Bickering" section. Oh wait a second..now that I think about it..why are Zelda-haters even here if they don't like the game? Don't you guys have something of meaning to do?
macross2012
Doesnt Nintendo have a no bug policy as they do not issue patches? Doesnt that mean they have to redo the CDs and issue them to customers free of charge?
celticbear
Zelda is a low rez franchise for tweens which is currently being beaten by it's unimaginative code monkeys like the dead horse cash cow it is. Skyrim is quite possibly the best fantasy rpg there has ever been. To even mention the two in the same sentence is laughable.
Chaos2106
Can we all shut up about bugs and glitches? This stupid Video Game Death Match BS does nothing at all. It isn't even G4's choice for GOTY. I'll say it like it is, G4 picks Skyrim as Game of the Year.
visnaval
poor Nintendo they cant even come up with anything original and the stuff they keep pigybacking on is now glitching. i think they just have a handful of employeys that sit around going hmmm how can we remake zelda and mario this time?
