Fans have been waiting a long time for Trine 2, but it's finally almost here. FrozenByte released the first game in 2009, an unusual side-scrolling platformer/puzzler/action game with a medieval fantasy setting and solo or co-op play, for PC and PlayStation 3; Mac and Linux versions followed later. The sequel, which had been set for a late 2011 release, now has some official dates.
FrozenByte confirms that Mac and PC users will be able to nab the game from Steam starting tomorrow for $14.99 (via CVG). There's also a $24.99 Collector's Edition available that adds a digital artbook and soundtrack to the package. A PlayStation Network release will follow on December 20, and an Xbox Live version will arrive the following day. This marks the series' first appearance on Microsoft's console; an XBLA version of Trine had been planned, but it never materialized.
For a better idea of what the game is all about, check out our Trine 2 preview from earlier this year.

The first game was amazing, and the wait for a sequel has been painful. Glad we finally have a firm date, but it can't get here quick enough.

Love the first game. Can't wait to see what they added, puzzle wise.
Hopefully PS+ will offer a discount, or it's part of the Steam holiday sale.
