PlayStation Vita To Only Allow One PlayStation Network ID Per Device

PS Vita

Sony has revealed that the PlayStation Vita will only allow one PlayStation Network ID per device. If you want to add a new PSN ID then the unit will have to be restored to factory settings. Lame.

Aside from this being a hassle for those who wanted to share their Vita among siblings or, anyone really, it makes it virtually impossible to play games from different regions unless you want to reset your system each time. It's a way to softly region-lock the system without actually saying that's it's region locked.

Having only one PSN ID means you'll have to get DLC for only one region, and you won't be able to take advantage of PSN region-specific deals. This info, that Sony conveniently only announced via the back of a pamphlet at an event in Japan, means that the sales of digital games is sure to go down.

It could potentially be a way to limit piracy, but I can see why a lot of people who were planning to share their console or get their content from different PSN regions are mad about the news. What do you think?

If this is the case then I don't want one. Whats the point if I can't share it with my family?

This is the best decision imo. One of the systems main selling points is supposed to be connectivity with PSN. Sony said so themselves at E3.

If the system is being shared in a household (i.e. My girlfriend and I share my 3DS constantly), the person playing the system would likely want to be connected to their PSN ID. It's not a deal breaker as long as you have multiple saves in a game I guess....still kinda a loss for the system though.

Combined with proprietary memory news, the PSP definitely isn't looking appealing to me.

You know, limiting 1 ID per Vita makes sense because the Vita is a hand held system. It would be hard for two people to play on the same Vita system because of how small it is. Also there's no second controller port. :p Yeah I'm captain obvious!

Sony can do what ever they want because no one is going to buy a PSP Vita anyway...

    I still can't believe Sony wants $70 for a 16GB memory card and $120 for 32GB.

I guess they have to charge those exorbitant prices when they're so far into the red.

It wouldn't be a psp if the launch didn't fail. My reason for not buying the psp at launch was the proprietary umd media. My reason for not wanting to buy the Vita? Proprietary memory cards. This just more reason not to get it and wait for the psp to be bargain binned.

The more I learn about the Vita, the less I want one.

$ony keeps taking things away from us. This is surely the best way to lose customers.
