2K Games made a very wise decision earlier this year when it pushed The Darkness 2 back from its October 18 release -- which would have put it in direct competition with Batman: Arkham City -- to February 7, 2012. It's looking all sorts of good too, with Digital Extremes handling development duties. The game's Xbox 360 Achievements list was revealed over the weekend, and with it comes mention of some previously unannounced features.
For starters, it seems that the game will feature a New Game+ mode of some kind, as the "At Home in the Dark" Cheevo gives you 50 GS for finishing "New Game+" on any difficulty. It looks like you'll also be able to play carnival games (the carnival being an environment demoed at E3), as you can pick up the 20 GS Achievement "Carnie Kid" for earning 1,000 points in "each of the carnival games." The most intriguing stuff, however, appears further down on the list.
A 50 GS Achievement called "The Brotherhood Crumbles" can be earned for completing the "Vendettas Campaign." Subsequent Achievements offer rewards for completing missions as four different characters: Inugami, Shoshanna, Jimmy and JP.
It sounds like they're all part of this "Vendettas Campaign," since the "Embraced the Darkness" Achievement gives you 25 GS for nabbing "all the talents for one character" in that mode. Co-op, anyone? Could be, especially with other Achievements apparently being specific to the "single player campaign."
The final Achievement revealed, "You've Made My Hit List," is awarded for completing "6 Hit List exclusive missions," whatever those may be. The "Vendettas" campaign, Hit List missions, New Game+... it appears that there's still plenty more left to be learned about our next adventure with the Darkness.
