Hey guy or possibly girls too.
Regarding the news breaking at the VGAs the most concerning to me was the MGS: Rising trailer or what is now MGR: Revengence. As a MGS fan I find myself in a stupor of sorts with this new unveiling of the franchise; quite simply MGS is stealth and that is anything but not that's. My question for the four of you: your thoughts on it and what was most interesting to you at the VGAs?.

The success of the Wii can be mostly attributed to the fact that "non-traditional gamers" were the core of who was buying their consoles. "Core gamers" are willing to purchase a new console every 5-7 years without thinking about it. Do you think that the "non-traditional gamers" that made the Wii such a success will be willing to purchase Wii-U, especially considering that the Wii-U looks like it will be more geared toward the "core gamers," and do you think Nintendo will be able to pull "core gamers" away from Microsoft and Sony?

During the old days of SNES and Sega, Japanese Role Playng game's were highly glorified and there was always a demand for more them to be made and sold to the market. As time moved on, the desire for these games seem to have subsided. RPG's started to become more westernized as Japanese video game publishing companies, such as Square-Enix and Capcom, started changing the way they make their RPG's. I've even noticed that these companies have started to collaborate with other smaller gaming developers and publishers to make these games. Sure, there are still some Japanese role playing games that are out, but I'm afraid with such a high demand for first person shooters and other popular gaming genre's, the need for JRPG's in the west will cease to exist.
Do you think that we're entering an era where JRPG's are dying out, or do you think that there's still a need for JRPG's in American gaming society.
To tie in with your topic of the show, if more video game journalists started studying and learning the Japanese language, do you think it would be possible for them to provide more news and reviews for Japanese games for western gaming publications in hopes that Japanese publishers and developers will feel comfortable bringing more titles overseas?

Were you surprised that the two games that were kinda fogotten ended up being the final two in the video game deathmatch?

My question's fairly simple:
Should game reviews affect the marketplace?
And what effect does this have on game developers?
[Is the effect of a well written review always "positive"... or are some developers less likely to try to innovate next time?]

With Batman Arkham City being incredibly successful moving from a completely linear game (Asylum) to open world gameplay, which linear game would you like to see move from a completely linear environment to an open world environment?

With this years launch of games coming to an end. looking back what video game franchise of this generation of consoles (yet still good) has been the most disappointing to you? for me its the fable franchise. it has shown great promise yet broke so many which held it back from being as good as everyone know it could be. I look at Skyrim and look back at the fable franchise and think that if was as close to size and had at least have the amount of content as Skyrim it would have been so awesome.

You Feedbacker's are EPIC!!! I look forward to the show every week. Is it just me, or does the wizard college seem like a dangerous place to go to school. It seems like it is raided weekly by a different dragon. I mean who in their right mind would willing pay tuition to go to that school. I was wondering if you guys have seen the same thing in your games?

Without getting into the debate over whether or not reviews should get score, I was really wondering why personal opinion or Bias is looked at so negatively in reviews. I used to get a certain magazine simply because it gave 3 scores/reviews. Each reviewer would have something that stuck out to them that they either hated or loved. Why not let the opinion be known before and after? If I am reading a review for ghost recon by someone who likes shooters, but loves Halo/quake/Unreal tournament the most I don't feel he should give the perfect review. However, reading the review and knowing that their preference is for the fast action I would be able to weigh his honest opinion against my own personal taste.

Hello Feed Backers. We all know gamers love to get on forums and complain about everything. The bitchy winning voice is always the loudest on the forums. A few weeks ago, a few gamers were complaining about Skyrim's performance on the PS3 and XBOX 360 (Remember I said a few) This set the internet a blaze with Journalist reporting that that Skyrim had major bugs on the PS3 with out really investigating (I believe). They just took these gamers word for it and wrote an half ass story about it. I have Skyrim for the PS3. I've been playing it since the day it came out. I've only run into 1 door bug where I was stuck and I had to reset. As far as slow load times. My load times have been 20 to 15 seconds long (not a big deal). I feel that this sloppy form of Journalism lead Bethesda to rush there 1.2 Skyrim patch, and we all know what that did to the PS3 version of Skyrim (I now have dragons that fly backwards lol) Do you guys think Game Journalist should do more investigative reporting before they run with something a few gamers yell about on a forum?

With a significant rise in digital downloads of games, why do the prices remain high and/or on par with their physical-format counterparts? Is it not the point of digital copies to save money on distribution costs (e.g. shipping, disc manufacturing, etc.) by pumping out data straight to the consumer's device? You would think prices would be a bit cheaper. But maybe that's solely my wishful thinking.

Years ago the only video game "journalism" I was aware of was found within the first issues of Nintendo Power which was the only video game magazine I knew that existed (this was some 30-ish years ago). Since then there has been been an explosion of journalism/media for the video game industry with its growth and financial success with many more gaming magazines, internet websites like G4TV.com, G4TV Channel, Game Trailers TV, commercials and so on.
I am curious to know:
1) Did any of you pursue journalism as a profession? If so, how did you come to be involved with G4 and has it allowed you to realize any journalism hopes/dreams? If not, how has your individual growth in becoming a journalist been thus far?
2) Could any of you ever imagined yourselves as you are now - being gamers AND journalists of the video game industry working with G4?

With a Tetris subscription model, the insane hidden prices behind the 'freemium' Theme Park and obscene use of the ban hammer on their forums; do you think EA is digging it's own grave?

The end of the year marks the beginning of best of/worst of lists, but did you experience any moments in an otherwise bad game that made your jaw drop due to an amazing scene, gameplay, or feature?

When thinking about game of the year and with all the great games that have inundated the market over the past few months from different video game genres. How do you guys begin to differentiate between games coming from different genres when making your considerations? And does the history of the games come into play, thinking specifically of zelda since you all seemed to be of the opinion that it paled in comparison to previous installments?

Hey Gang,
With all the fantastic games that just took my wallet prisoner, which game(s) do you feel were overlooked during the crowded holiday season? I want to plug Rayman Origins for my vote here due to it being fantastic.
Cheers,
Matt

When I first start heard about the PS Vita I was really hype about it. But now finding out about the expensive mandatory memory card and now it is saying that you can only have one PSN account per console. I kinda feel disappointed. My question is, do you think Sony decision will hurt the PS Vita?

Is it possible that game journalists are a bit too complicit in hyping titles? Skyrim, for instance, launched as a broken, buggy, laggy mess, yet to listen/read the gaming press one would think that Skyrim was the greatest thing since Jesus.
