Mass Effect 3 is coming in March 2012, which is really getting awfully close now. It's going to bring to a close the trilogy that BioWare started in 2007 with the first game, but that doesn't mean you should expect the same old everything. There are plenty of new tools for you to make use of, especially in the sci-fi RPG's action-focused combat scenarios, as a newly released video reveals.

There's some cool stuff in here. A new Krogan shotgun. Powered up heavy melee attacks. The ability to hack turrets that enemy engineers place in the world and redirect their fire toward your foes. I could run through the rest, but gameplay designer Eric Fagnan and combat designer Corey Gaspur know the stuff a lot better, and they have moving pictures to share. Skip to around 1:50 for the new hotness.

I don't care what comes out next year GTA 5, the awesome tomb raider reboot, another call of duty, halo 4, Mass Effect 3 for GAME OF THE YEAR because this is arguably the greatest gaming trilogy of all time.

ME3 might win 2012 GOTY I mean people talk about the ME games so much it haven't won a GOTY yet but hey what can you expect when every year it has to go up against games like The Elder Scrolls, Uncharted, and Red Dead.

I pretty much don't need to watch anymore videos. I've already given bioware a piece of my soul.

I can wait, but it will be painful.

First off I'd like to remind G4 that video hosting on YouTube is free (even for companies, although maybe since you are owned by Comcast the Viacom legalities would be a problem) and YouTube is really bad at Subscription Updates and other things but they are good at making the videos work (even when on embedded on another site) so maybe we should stop G4's horrible Video Player and get Sara on the YouTubes.

Anyway I haven't watched a lot of these BioWare Pulses but there was nothing 'new' in detail about the CE from this episode to the last. Maybe he meant 'new' as in 'new details from his mouth' since he hasn't verbally told us. Either way everything in the CE was announced months ago when everyone thought the game was coming out in November).

Anyway the heavy attention on Combat in Mass Effect 3 (in both this video and just overall publicity of the game through BioWare and non BioWare channels) makes me feel as if this will be another giant step in the Third Person Shooter Direction and have zero RPG Elements. I know BioWare has said that they plan to get back to some RPG roots after RPG Fans (ie Everyone who made ME1 a huge success) expressed upset over the palatable loss of RPG.

And I understand that ME2 got GoTY awards and was (I assume) commercially and critically more accepted and profitable then ME because of the 'Action' in ME2 I just really want to be able to customize my Shepard again. Guns and Armor should be able to be made into your own instead of everything being a cookie cutter production. Ammo being an 'ability' just severely limits me especially when my 'ability' or 'active effect' stops working randomly on my Squad Mates. Also it seems a little lazy to make someone's 'Loyalty' Ability an Ammo Power.

The in-game N7 Hoodie doesn't do too much for me, although most of Shepard's outfits in ME2 were horrid. The dog annoys me because it's specially mentioned as being only on the ship and that to me just feels like it's a cheap tactic'd DLC that'll end up being more of an annoyance. Atleast the Marabi Warhound in DA2 was useful and actually gave you a '4th' Companion.

Lithographs and any sort of Art Book or 'Concept Art' never interest me. If I wanted to see 'idea's you had but couldn't get into the game because of story/graphics/space or any other reason then I'd just look it up online.

Also I thought ME3 was going to be advertised and plugged using the Fem Shep? I know they couldn't do it before because people were still voting on what FemShep they wanted featured but that ended a bit ago so in my mind all videos should feature that FemShep from here on out. I mean I don't care to see a FemShep but if you just keep using a MaleShep (except for the Box and maybe TV/Visual Adverts) then I feel like your not really committing to a FemShep.

I've got my CE Pre-Ordered. We'll see if I keep it at CE. There's nothing that seems epic in the CE but it's only like 20 bucks more right?... That isn't too bad considering. I don't know, I love the ME Universe but I do feel like it's too action focused.
