There's been a lot of talk about all the hours of voice acting Star Wars: The Old Republic had to record for their game, but there are a few other MMOs with just as much vocalization. Guild Wars 2 has been recording voice-over for the past 3 years and they're just now approaching the finish line. On this very special Thanksgiving edition of The MMO Report Casey Schreiner will part the curtain and show you what it takes to voice a cast of thousands for one of the most anticipated MMOs, while simultaneously trying to shoehorn himself into the game. Happy Turkey Day!

That was damn awesome, haha. Hilarious ending to boot, great job. And you better get that line into the game, seriously that was brilliant.

You did great as Lord Faren! You're voice needs to be in the game.

Slow clap standing ovation was hilarious!

So the black female voice actor gets the voice over for monsters while the white ones get female Charr and other important characters....

...sounds like typical Anet nonsense to me.

Nice work covering the voice overs in GW2. I like VOs. Like some of the others have said, I think it definitely adds a little something extra to a game with a good gameplay foundation. VOs give a little more immersion than a wall of TL;DR quest text, and that's a big plus for me.

You sound great for the stuck up, snooty, cavier eating, napkin dabbing, pompous Lord Faren.

Excellent show! Really cool to see the VO behind-the-scene. Thanks for taking us there.

I also vote for Casey getting his voice in GW2 as well! Probably too late to re-do a role like Lord Faren but it would be neat if he was in there somewhere lol

Lord Faren was amazing, period. Me thinks the lead writer had to concentrate not to shart himself.

Casey did a great job there, I'm impressed! BTW, i love Guild Wars, but stop making specials about it until game comes out, they are starting to be to boring

Voice Acting is an enhancement not a "must have." A good game, regardless if it is a MMO or Singleplayer or any other type of game should have a STRONG gameplay. Most of the games I like should also have a solid and great story. I think the biggest problem MMOs have right now is the WOW factor. Every company is trying to copy WOW and get THEIR piece of the pie. Games like EvE Online show there are other types of MMO players out there who are willing to spend tons of money and make the MMO profitable. Sadly, I did not like EvE Online, but it shows you that there are OTHER types of MMO players out there than the typical fantasy based MMO. SWTOR is science fiction, but it could even be called WoW: Space Wizards.

SWTOR would be better, IMHO, if they stayed away from the WoW concept and moved more towards their own franchises like Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect. I always wondered what a Mass Effect MMO would be like... I hope its not like SWTOR game style (which is a WoW clone).

Enough of my rants about MMOs in general. Never-the-less, this was one of the better shows of late!

Voice overs are probably going to be the standard in mmos of the future. WIth GW2 and SWTOR both going fully voiced, their almost assured success should pave the way for more VO games.

loved watching the behind the scenes stuff. the VO actresses seem to be very colorful and talented looking forward to hearing their work in the final product. Casey did a very good job with his attempt an voice acting. the Lord Faren character would require many more lines than what we were shown so i doubt that will make it into the final product, though he could make it as the Charr guard with just the few lines that he recorded there. it would be interesting to see if he actually makes the final cut.
