Metal Gear Solid 5 has been announced and the legendary Hideo Kojima will be developing the next installment. We currently don't have any details surrounding the next MGS game, but it's probably safe to assume that it'll be coming to a PlayStation (we're not sure if that means PlayStation 3 or 4 though), as the first details of the game are scheduled to be revealed as part of the December issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine UK.
When we have more info to go on we'll be sure to let you know about it. Until then, let's hear some speculation about the new MGS. Where do you want it to be set? Will it feature cardboard boxes?

First off, a Metal Gear game without a cardboard box is no Metal Gear game I want to play.
Second, I would either say have it set after Metal Gear Solid 4, but maybe some new blood. Maybe a protege' of Snake's that he wants to train, to give something to the future as it were. Kinda like the MGS form of Batman Beyond. Snake is too old/weak to carry on the fight, so he sends in someone new who could do what he does and he and Otacan do the whole Radio Backup roles, only with some cool banter between them while new guy is forced to listen inside a cardboard box and trying not to get shot.
Or like MGS3, set it in Big Boss's time. Not like the PSP games, even though I never played them, they never impacted the overall story of the main games to me.
Maybe have it set just before Big Boss goes rouge and sets up Outer Heaven or during.
Granted, with all the main characters fates already decided by the end of MGS4, kinda hard to speculate where they could take the game now. Unless they somehow cure Snake, I don't think the games will be the same.
Maybe go Legacy of Kain: Defiance like and have it slip more evenly between Raiden and Snake? Less MGS2 where it was the opening with Snake but really starts with Raiden (lame by the way).
