Modern Warfare 3 Cover Art Revealed?

Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 earned more than $775 million over the course of its first five days on the market. Just think for a second about how much money that is, and then continue reading about all the records this number has shattered. First off, this monumental figure broke all theatrical box office records, followed by all book sales records, and of course it broke all of the video game sales records. The funny part is that they actually broke their own record. Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops sold a cool $550 million when it first came out last year.

"With $775 million of sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in its first five days, Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for three consecutive years across all forms of entertainment," said Robert Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard. "Life-to-date retail sales for the Call of Duty franchise have exceeded $6 billion worldwide, which makes Call of Duty one of the most valuable entertainment properties in the world. We expect continued sales momentum, as reviews and audience enthusiasm suggest that this is the best Call of Duty game that we have ever made."

"As I have said all year, we have been singluarly focused on making a spectacular game for our fans, and nothing else. Our incredible teams at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have done just that," said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing. "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 continues to thrill core gaming enthusiasts as well as draw new people into the medium, which is not an easy balancing act. But it takes more than a great game. I would also like to thank our incredible team for the pulling off the launch of the year, as well as our retail partners around the world. But most of all, I want to thank our fans. They are our toughest critics, and our biggest supporters, and none of this would be possible without them."

Not only did MW3 break sales records, it also broke two new Xbox Live records. According to Microsoft, more than 7 million multiplayer hours were logged by the end of MW3's launch day, a 19% increase over Call of Duty's: Black Ops' 5.9 million hours. MW3 also logged the most unique gamers, 3.3 million playing in one day, up from 2.6 million for Black Ops.

If you love Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 then you should vote for it in our Video Game Deathmatch. Or, if you hate Call of Duty: MW3 then you should vote against it in our VG Deathmatch! It's win win, and either way, Activision is still rich.

I thought movies had "box office," not games. The title should be "Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Already Earned $775 Million In Sales; Breaks All Video Game Sales Records." Come on G4, get your shot together. It's bad enough that you're afraid to give MW3 anything other than 5/5.

Sooooo many trooolllls, lmao. Even if it WAS the same exact game as MW2 (which obviously it's not... or it would be called MW2), it STILL would be fun.

Just for the sake of an argument... World of Warcraft players have been playing the "same game" for the last 7 years. It's still entertaining to millions of players worldwide. The same can be said about the Pokemon Franchise, which has lasted for even longer.

The point is: The game is fun. Yes this is a bias statement, but a bias statement backed by apparently more than 3 Million people, and the more people that back a biased statement, the more it starts to seem like a cold hard fact. To all of you who live to hate that is.

....I personally am glad for the franchise.... That's right... A positive emotion.

Really disappointing people are voting with their wallets to keep producing these abysmal god awful abominable "video games."

I'll probably buy it sometime soon because alot of my friends will be playing it.

I hope activision is saving all this money, because A TON is going to Jason West and Vince Zampella when they win(hopefully) the lawsuit. From what they are owed on MW2 and their cut on MW3.

Either way the Call of Duty franchise will be dead when Respawn Entertainment (Jason and Vince's new studio: www.respawn.com) releases their new game.

There is a good reason MW3 is almost exactly the same as MW2, because all the talent went to Respawn

Hmm....It's not surprising. Gotta have enough money to bribe G4, IGN and other reviewers, so they can give it perfect or near perfect scores. While conveniently forgetting to mention: "IT'S THE EXACT GAME FROM LAST YEAR"

They said it would take 6 weeks to hit $1 billion but I think it will hit it by the end of the next weeks at the rate that it is going

Bobby K, what a f-in pig.., has to boast about his golden gonads shattering records with a washed up franchise that doesn't try anything new and falls back on safety nets, "if its not broken don't fix it" have fun blowing your money for MW3 just remember the next call of duty game is <12 months away...

okay, so yes, they're doing something right, they've got a winning formula and are perfecting it. i bought it, i like it, but still, this game is anything but revolutionary. with this kind of money behind call of duty, the next game better BLOW MY MIND. please, Activision/IW/Treyarch/Sledgeh ammer/whoever, put some of that money towards hiring some awesome talent and give me a substantial and epic campaign that does something new and exciting, not just more explosions.

Expansion pac to the max, to say nothing of having to pay to play multiplayer, what? another $50? not in this lifetime or the next. Be original next time. And to all the people who like it, good for you, you rock, yeah right. Keep giving your $$ to them they love taking it, A fool and his money are soon parted-Thomas Tusser

Mine neither. I don't know anyone with it and would talk them out of it should they make that mistake. CoD is complete garbage as well as anyone playing it and Activision as a whole. A truly undeserving company as they can swindle so many uninformed people out of their money by reselling scraps. It takes no skill to play this game unlike the other FPS's that have released this year.

All the hype and the lemmings who follow it are just throwing their money into the COD hype factory.
I just read the user score for MW3 and it hit 2.8 Which is unfavorable!
I'm happy they don't have my money!

I don't find the comparison between this game and "smashing" the box office records. The pricing points and inflation of the dollar totally skews the chasm between a game being sold($60) and the record holding movies($15 max for ___ and giggles) of our time. No doubt, $775M is quite a substantial number but you, and this is just me presuming, are selling a game across three well established consoles across a multitude of nations. On the other hand, you have these theatrical movie releases that get out to a much smaller audience(in terms of location).

I'm not knocking on the game, I've played it and it's alright for me, but these are an "apple and orange" comparison being made in my opinion. It's ok to toot your own horn, Activision, but make sure you're playing the right tune.
