We've covered the argument between Minecraft's parent company Mojang and Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax before. Basically, the fight is over the word "Scrolls," and it's the sort of thing only a legal department would really get involved in. Minecraft creator Notch has shown the suit the proper seriousness, by offering to settle the matter over a game of Quake, and today, we learned of what might be a veiled, jokey response to the matter by Betheseda.
Ladies and gentlemen, behold Skyrim's "Notched Pickaxe," a magical mining tool that grants a bonus to your smithing (AKA "crafting") abilities, as well as delivering shock damage to enemies.

Is this blocky digging tool's existence a veiled shout-out to the creator of Minecraft? Is this just a coincidence? We may never get a straight answer, but you can apparently find the tool yourself in Skyrim's Throat of the World. I'll do that, too... as soon as I complete the 6,000 other quests in my quest book.

Am I the only one who thinks the connection between the two is something of a stretch?
Mystical_Knight
I find that rather funny

Legal department or not I think this is a little tasteless on their part. If Bethesda is going to be petty enough to sue Notch because his game's one-word title happens to share a word within their 6-word title then I don't think they have a right to make this joke. I mean come on, how many people even know this game by it's full title? Ask someone about "The Elder Scrolls 5" and they'll probably give you a blank stare, but ask the same person about "Skyrim" and they'll know exactly what you're talking about.
Minus 10 points for Bethesda >:(

Yeah this is a Minecraft reference in Skyrim.

You guys may want to fix the title of this article. Serious typo.

If that is intentional ( which it seems to be ) it's awesome.
