Cheats and Walkthroughs

So a little game called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hit shelves Tuesday - and then proceeded to fly off of them. According to a report from vgcharts.com, MW3 managed to sell 9.3 million copies on day one! Now, that's just early data, and isn't the official sales number, so take it with a little grain of salt. But if it is accurate, that makes it the industry's biggest launch to date.
For a look at more "official" numbers, check out our article on Activision's sale's numbers.
What's really staggering is the amount the series has jumped in just a year since Black Ops. In just a year, the series has managed to increase sales 33%. The Xbox 360 version of the game also became the first game to move over 5 million copies on one platform on day one.
What do you guys think of this? Has the series reached critical mass, or is there still room to grow?

See, I actually started the CoD series with Black Ops, when I got my PS3 two months ago. So for me this game feels pretty new, though I completely understand the points that people make about CoD being super repetitive: I agree, but I don't feel that way myself just yet. If you're going to tell me to get the previous games and play online with those, no thanks. I prefer to play the installment that is current - for a bigger community and a better transition into learning the maps and such. I liked Black Ops and played it for a good two months and thoroughly enjoyed it, and am currently enjoying MW3 as well.
As far as Skyrim goes, though, I feel 'meh' about it. I tried playing Oblivion, and the game just felt dull. You can't be a melee-oriented character without it being overly repetitive by the third hour you're playing. I don't know why I didn't like it, but I really did try to enjoy it. Those of you who are calling out CoD for being super repetitive, what is so new about doing quests over and over again, with the same block-swing-block-swing technique? CoD is a map pack? Then what's Skyrim? Looks to me like a new map pack as well cause that's what all the hype is about, it would seem.
This pretty much follows all patterns for games though, so I find that it's all a matter of preference. Of course you're going to get burned out of games after a long time; look at WoW, it too is dying after 7 years of dominating the MMO market - and people will get tired of CoD as well. I just find it tiring when people repeatedly bash another game without looking at their own properly, and may never see the 'sameness' of their new releases.
Sorry for that long rant, but that's kind of been on my mind for a while; and are just some of my opinions.

Man there are a lot of "MW3 Haters" on this post! If you hate the game, then I can assume that you didn't buy it; if you did go out and get a copy to play and complain. You just spent $60 bucks to do that. We thank you for your dedication to the cause of bad mouthing a great game and filling Activision pockets in the process. Go pat yourself on the back, while the rest of us enjoy some Co-op and Multi-player.
P.S. It killed battlefield!!! Updated engine and crappy game play is not a success story!!

man everytime I read an article no matter what the game I can predict whats going to be on the bottom in the comments section..little children arguing over which is a better game..or game system or them 2 or 3 people who bash a game or try to promote another game that has nothing to do with the game your reading about..so what if this one has an xbox and that one has a ps3? whta does that have to do with you?? and if your such a die hard BF3 fan why are you trolling on a call of duty game...life must suck for you...see me I work I go to school and I own both ps3 and xbox and b3 and COD MW3 appreciate the game for what it is and shutup..you dont like it fine you dont have to play it..you would probably try and hack it anyway or use the most over powered weapon and think your good seriously I am just curious why you trolls bother..I'll kill you in MW3 or BF3 on BOTH systems so stfu
TheRedBaron1157
I bet there not to upset about that truck of copies being stolen with this amount of doe rolling in lol
shadows1192
you know, the people who are referring to MW3 as a map pack or an expansion are obviously the types of idiots who only play online. have you ever thought that there are people who actually want to play the campaign? i am not a fan of the CoD franchise but i did get to play my brothers copy and it was pretty good online (did not get the same thrill i got from Gears 3 but still good), and the campaign is interesting and quite "Action-y". It just goes to show that troll must die!
azraeldethangel
people can talk all they want but like michael jordan says i let my rings do the talking in this case just look at the sales stop drinking the hateorade and recognise modern warfare 3 its the real beyond the call of duty and by the way battlefield 3 sucks.

So BF3 sold 5m in its first week, MW3 sells 5m on xbox360 on day one..... yeah i dont think there was any negative effect of the relatively close release dates.

MW3 is like toilet paper. Everyone will buy it because the need something to wipe their ass with. MW3 is MW2 with small improvements. Quilted Northern is better than Scott brand. I will never buy this game for its ridiculous price tag. When a game is giving what the "elite package" in MW3 gives for less than MW3 something is wrong. Activision or IW or whatever they want to call themselves are rolling in your dough and laughing at you. They release a game that probably sold copies because of the success of the older games. I bet MW4 is gonna be a gold turd and people will fight each other for it just to get a whiff. People are conservative in the gaming sense. Look at Halo. It sucked ass yet people still bought it.
Avalanche33
Just got back from bestbuy traded in my copy of MW3 got 45 bucks for it preordered Skyrim gonna go pick it up at midnight
wadeXwhiplash
who cares? its a game. its meant to have fun with. not have a war with. geez..it really shows how little time you have with ur lives that you have to argue. its like arguing between a mustang and camaro. both have their ridiculous fan boys that swear nothing is better. Instead of complaining on a website where noone really gives a crap (this post included) complain to the game makers. and a "gamer" is someone who appreciates all games and not just follow whats "cool" or whats "the best" Grow up or simply dont play. whining about it wont get you anywhere.

Haters in the building ... hahaha. I love people like you and a lot of others out there that just spew hate out of there mouth just because u want to be different then a mass of people. Its a good game, just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it is a bad game. If you need to get on a soap box and critique it to death, feel free to talk yourself to death about how it "sucks" so bad, but my problem is with people like you who try and make others feel bad or dumb or anything other then just some one happy to buy a new game that they love... see unhappy people like you need to find a flaw in everything, plus you like to go against the crowd witch im all for usually, but not when its for no other reason then just to try and make someone fill stupid about buying a game, a good game non the less that they have been waiting years for... we get it ok you and some others don't like it for whatever reason, but get off your fake high horse and realize that you are no better then any other person out there that was happy about there purchase of mw3. The sooner you do that the better off your life will be because im assuming that you do this a lot with people who make choices for them selfs that in no way affect you negatively whatsoever, but u still need to talk down to then for what you feel is a dumb action on there behalf even if it brings them joy... get over it because now you are just like the "fanboys" you talk about so much about in that you are a "ANTI MW3" fanboy. Or just a "anti popular" fanboy. Plus if that stat is correct ... OVER 9 MILLION ON THE FIRST DAY?... then that many people just all can't be wrong. So chill with all the hate people, if u don't like it its cool to say so, but don't run around judging others for what they like. Have fun with a great game people...

Thus shattering the myth that "piracy" impacts game sales in any statistically significant way.

Look for all of you people saying that MW3 is old and broken I understand but for those who believe that it's out dated think of it this way then. For you to say that MW3 dosen't bring anything new to the table you would have to say the same for like God of War or Fable or the Fallout series who don't change uch either. Don't get me wrong I hear what you're saying I mean the graphics haven't really changed much from any of the games of the modern warfare past but why can't you just enjoy the game. In all seriousness why do people try to turn video game ratings into politics it's stupid. I would enjoy BF3 if I had it but I don't. I personally would enjoy any game that I play, I just grew up with CoD most of my life I like it more. Enjoying the game is the purpose isn't it? Then why do you all argue over sales ratings anyway? If you don't like the game, don't buy it it's as simple as that. Play the games that you like okay.
videoman1994
It's like pokemon to be honest. Even though they may add the most horrific looking pieces of art as pokemon, the fan boys will somehow keep buying it.
But who wouldn't? It is called nostalgia, that is why this game keeps selling. Eventually it will die down like guitar hero did.

all you can do its just hate on success. its just plain sad to see all of you just bash mw3 cause you personally think it sucks. i bet even most of you haven't even played the game and just go with assumptions. whatever, you BF3 fanboys and BF3 representatives saying BF3 being better and all that crap, blah blah... just look at the numbers... if it aint broken, dont fix it.

And how many of those so called 9.3 million copies will be traded in or returned? Or how many will fall back to Black Ops' game play instead? I still haven't picked up my copy yet...still debating n trying to wait on all the fallout that seems to be occurring. On one hand you've got the critics' rave reviews on the game and then you've got the actual gamers/players of the game on the other, with all their mostly negative reviews. It's gonna be a hard decision to make on spending that hard earned money on this when I keep hearing how much has not really changed and with Skyrim coming out tonite at midnight....my greenbacks may be going to the latter; considering how much game play I can get out of it. With the Skyrim reviews being so outstanding and with how massive the game is n how much better it is than the previous....I may be sold. Don't get me wrong...I'm sure the single player campaign on MW3 is stellar, but still way too short. With not many changes to the multi-player, I may just stick with Black Ops n all it's Zombie glory n be sold down the skyrim path! Decisions decisions!

The proof will be at the video game awards at the end of the year, that CoD's reign as the "supreme fps" has officially come to an end. I am both a CoD and BF fan. But, when I see a game that has improved in so many ways (BF3) and a game that has literally not changed at all over the past 5 years (CoD), I have to lean towards BF3 being the better fps.
