I have very fond childhood memories of spending hazy afternoons at my local Nathan's game room pouring quarter after quarter into The Simpsons Arcade Game. That sort of four-player co-op brawler, a common sight in early '90s arcades, is frequently tapped for re-release on console-based digital download stores and it looks like The Simpsons' take on the genre might finally get its own moment to shine once more.
A newly filed rating from the Australian Classification Board (via Destructoid) reveals that Konami will publish The Simpsons Arcade Game for unspecified platforms (the listing says "multiplatform"). The developer is listed as Backbone Entertainment, the California developer behind recent releases Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon and Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone.

Would the Aussie government truly allow such realistic depictions of violence?

I hope this ports over to consoles! If they released the TMNT arcade and X-men, why not this?
