Big Xbox Live Changes Coming Soon: Adding Beacons

Some big changes are headed your way, Xbox Live gamers. The familiar “My Xbox” section of Xbox.com is going away. Don't worry, though. It’s being replaced with an update designed to make it easier to see what your friends are doing on Xbox LIVE. My Xbox will be replaced by a section called "Social" which will feature even more info on what your pals are up to, including a new feature called Beacons. Beacons let you mark games you want to play with others, making it easier to find friends who want to play the same games.

Beacons are coming to the Xbox Live dashboard soon too, so you'll be able to check out the Beacons on the web first. It's like a sneak peek of the future.

But, as they say, that's not all.

A planned including the ability to search the Zune video catalog and buy movies and TV shows from your browser. As well as a bunch of other updates and whatnot.

You should see the update in the coming days at Xbox.com, but if you'd like more details right now, here's an in-depth look at the updates.
