Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is officially in stores as of early this morning, and Activision has flipped the switch on Beachhead Studios' stat-tracker/social network, Call of Duty Elite. Unfortunately, that switch is throwing off a few sparks as reports of sign-in woes and incomplete content start to pour in.
Beachhead's Chacko Sonny chalks these issues up to growing pains in a public statement, pegging the issues surrounding registration requests to a "bottleneck" created by the sheer volume of new sign-ups. It's worth noting that the game itself is running fine overall so far in both multiplayer and Spec Ops online matches.
The reason(s) for missing content remains unaddressed for now. It appears that the Groups and Clans portions of Elite's Connect channel isn't yet up and running. I've also noticed that the web portal for Elite hasn't yet recognized my status as a premium subscriber -- I redeemed my Hardened Edition code on Xbox Live -- which means that I can't even check to see if the Elite TV premium content is online yet.
Also still MIA is the promised mobile app, which was supposed to arrive day-and-date with today's release. The day is long and not nearly over of course, so there's still time. Nothing yet though. We've reached out to Activision for comment.
