What kind of Game is it?
The epitome of gaming juggernaut, this first-person shooter franchise has become the ultimate force to be reckoned with in the shooter space, as evidenced by the billions of dollars it has raked in for Activision and the millions upon millions of game hours it has generated. Known for over-the-top, non-stop action campaigns and equally explosive and highly addictive multiplayer, COD has achieved a status that few franchises will ever know.
Who Developed it?
Call of Duty creators Infinity Ward return for another installment in its record breaking Modern Warfare series, but this time around, the studio teamed up with Sledgehammer Games to bring its latest world-ending military-shooter vision to life. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 earned over $1 billion and has no doubt been responsible for more virtual fragging for a hundred lifetimes. Fortunately, we don't have to wait to much longer to find out if the newest iteration keep the impressive tradition alive.
What's the Story?
Modern Warfare 3 picks up after the events of MW2. The United States and Russia have been drawn into World War III, thanks to the diabolical efforts of Vladimir Makarov and the devilish exploits of his Ultranationalist cohorts. The stakes are higher than ever as the war has finally come home to American soil, and it will be up to series regulars Captain John Price, John "Soap" MacTavish, and Russian informant Nikolai (along with a host of new characters) to travel the globe in an effort to keep the world from descending into irrevocable chaos. Single-player campaign, 18-player online multiplayer, and 2-player co-op (Spec Ops and Survival Mode). Watch our Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Preview for more details.
What Did We Say?
From Adam Rosenberg's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 review:
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a proud return to form for Infinity Ward, with no small amount of thanks and props going to Sledgehammer Games as well. The two studios hit the ground running with the tight campaign, and it's a pace that never lets up. Campaign, multiplayer, and Spec Ops all deliver what they're supposed to -- with better visuals and tighter controls than the games that came in years past, naturally -- and the Elite social network promises to keep bringing a lot of fresh appeal to the experience in the months following the game's release."
