Last week, TheFeed asked the question: "What will happen to you if you play Modern Warfare 3 before its official release?" Today, I have an official answer: If you're playing a legitimate (IE: Not pirated) copy of Modern Warfare 3, you will not be banned from your online account.
Xbox LIVE Director of Policy and Enforcement Stephen Toulouse said,"here no plans to ban early players," and Infinity Ward Creative Strategist Robert Bowling backed him up, tweeting that his company has...
"No plans to ban legit fans, but try to wait til midnight launch on Tuesday to play #MW3. Can't wait to jump online with everyone then!"
So now you know: Everyone would rather you wait to play the game for the "official" launch, but nothing bad will happen to you if you don't.

All I see here is people complaining. This is a game, a game is meant to be fun. Who cares if others received the game before you. If you are good enough all that wont matter anyhow. Just have fun and stop crying!

To Hell with Setting Back the Servers.
What the F is setting back the Servers going to do?... Sure everyone starts on an even playing field again (except for time zones) but it's still not harsh enough.
The problem here is that people are obtaining a game that is not to be obtained until 11/08/2011.
honestly if you are saying, 'Go ahead and disregard our release date!' then I say go ahead and Pirate the game.
I hope more Activision shipments get hijacked and stolen and games get hacked then. And if the cops ever catch the guys Activision can say, "No! Let them go!" since clearly Activision doesn't care about holding people accountable.

Despite the annual pimping of CoD and the absurd price model for map packs, you have to respect Activision for not punishing their fans with bans or the dreaded ONLINE PASS.

So why was banning the only option up in the air? and why wasn't just rolling the servers back at release an option?
Pretty lazy reaction if you ask me, especially when considering such an online focused game.

Yeah I lost interest in MW3 a bit ago. I'm just kind of over the thing right now. I'm sure I'll get the game... prolly... but I'll wait a few weeks since I'm in no big hurry.
But this goes to show you that the world rewards people who do not follow the rules.
If MW3 isn't to be sold until Nov. 9th then it shouldn't be sold until Nov. 9th.
People should not be allowed to play the game (especially online, where time is a huge factor in rank and available weapons) until that day and by allowing these people to play online free of consequences you are saying, "Yeah we know you got the game early (regardless of if pirated or 'legit' by store error) and we are making all the honest people wait but you feel free to keep doing this."
If I'm Wal-Mart/GameStop/BestBuy I say, "Hey Guys! Come get MW3 early! K-Mart does it! So we aren't going to allow them to get the edge on us! Let's go!"
Especially with a game like MW3 where there are no DLC advantages to keep people loyal to a certain store.

What do you know. Console peasants get to play it early on pirated (most of which was, dont try and kid yourself) and they get a pat on the shoulder and told "its ok what you just did. Im just disappointed you couldnt wait till tonight. Enjoy your elite! " While if this happened on the PC, activision would be up in arms, damning the pc and how DARE they play the game early, calling piracy on the PC the worst thing that happened to the videogame industry since the atari killed it in the 80's. This ontop of them delaying elite till whenever but still charging the same price as the complete and banless console counterpart.
Im honestly starting to feel like the red headed step son from another marriage that no one wants.

no surprise. everyone knew they wouldnt ban you, though i dont understand how ppl cant wait. i havent ever been so excited for a game that i just HAD to play it a few days early. i think ppl do it just for bragging rights "haha i played the game before you"...honestly who cares. especially when it comes to a crappy game like CoD. the game youll be playing a week early is the same game that youve been playing the whole time cause nothing ever changes with CoD
