Are you a Dragon Quest fan who lives in Japan? Square Enix has detailed plans for a Dragon Quest 10 beta test (via Andriasang), though it will only be open to Japan residents with Square Enix Members accounts. You'll also need to have an Internet-connected Wii console.
Those who are accepted into the beta will receive a game disc, instruction manual and Wii USB memory card (though you can also opt to provide your own memory card). A FAQ is available that lays out the details, though you'll need to be able to read Japanese.
Participants will be able to create a character from any one of the game's five tribes. All characters will start in the same location and the beta will cover some story prologue elements and boss battles, but the test is designed to prevent any real progress from being made in the story.
You character data "will most likely" (Andriasang's words) not carry over into the final game, though all participants will score themselves a Drackey cap. Square isn't setting any kind of time limit on the beta, either; apply when you like, since applicants will be brought in by periodic drawings rather than on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Aw, I want a Dracky cap! Those things look goddamn adorable. Makes sense that it's Japan-only since they're the vast majority of the world that will play the crap out of every Dragon Quest-related anything....

An MMO for the Wii...interesting. A little bogus that the beta is only in Japan. But I was never all that into betas anyway...Or Dragon quest...Or the Wii, so I guess this really doesn't effect me either way. But a MMO on the Wii is still prety interesting.
