Major League Baseball 2K12 Cover Athlete Is Pitcher Justin Verlander

There's no official release date yet, but history suggests that 2K Games will be putting Major League Baseball 2K12 into the hands of fans in early March, getting a jump on real-life baseball's spring training. The publisher announced over the weekend which player would receive the honor of appearing in the game's cover art: Justin Verlander, of the Detroit Tigers.

Verlander just finished pitching his way through a red hot season, earning Players Choice Awards from his fellow MLB pros for Player of the Year and American League Outstanding Pitcher. He pitched his second career no-hitter in the 2011 season and is considered a favorite to win the American League Cy Young Award, which celebrates pitching execellent.

If you know baseball, all of this information probably means something. And if you don't, you're probably just as confused as I am. Still: congrats, Jason! You're the best at throwing baseballs!
