Alan Wake

We've got a tiny tidbit of news about the next Alan Wake game for you Wake-maniacs out there. The haunted titular protagonist will return in a new game, which is, according to Major Nelson, a "standalone experience and released on Xbox LIVE." WE

Like all news these days, the Wake-word comes by way of twitter. The major tweeted:

We can confirm that this new “Alan Wake” game will be a fully standalone experience and released on Xbox LIVE.

As a huge fan of Alan Wake, I'm happy he's coming back, but I wonder how Wake will translate to the downloadable world. Part of the joy of Alan Wake was in its huge scope... so I'm hoping for a lengthy, episodic adventure doled out over six months or so.

they might just be doing this to connect an actual "Alan Wake 2" together. Kind of like Kingdom Hearts did with "chain of memories" a long time ago.

Glad to hear that. But with my internet it will take 10 years to download a full game lol.

Glad to hear that a sequel is in the works, but I strongly disagree with an episodic adventure. I would rather just get the whole game at once; something about having to buy "episodes" of a game over time really annoys me...

I LOVE Alan Wake for sure. It was probably one of the best games that I have played on the Xbox and it's really one of the most unique games you can get in this generation of consoles. I'm sure it'll be fine but I'm a little iffy on the whole download thing. I mean, I'll still buy it no doubt but I hope it isn't episodic because frankly the first game was a little short and I just want to play a consistent game. I don't want to pay 15 dollars for another 30-60 minutes of Gameplay. But I could totally be wrong and it could just be straight to "Games on Demand" like RE4 and Death Smiles 2. Needless to say, I'm VERY excited I just want more specific's on what type of "Xbox Live Exclusive" it's going to be.

This. . . Will be. . . amazing. . . there isn't a way that it could be bad. . . its Alan Wake, one of the better non-mainstream NOT first person shooter titles around. . . refreshing to see an actual PLOT rather than the monotony of CoD. . . even though I'm getting it in a few days

I liked Infamous Festival of Blood but I think a smaller downloadable version of a disc based game is a bit short.

The first was a very well written story and the gameplay was so much fun. The sequel has a lot to live up to, I hope they don't screw the pooch on this one. That "Download only" makes me a bit skeptical but I'm still very excited.

I always thought this looked like a fun game, kinda like a silent hill game.

Alan Wake was a pretty good game, up until chapter 3 when I noticed that the only things you actually do in that game is walk through the woods, shine a light on stuff and then kill it. It just got really repetitive. I got so sick of it towards the end that I just wanted it to be over.

So I only rented Alan Wake. Just before I could finish though I had to return it. I'm literally probably 30 minutes away from finishing the game but I don't want to spend another $10 just to play that thirty minutes and i'd rather not look up the ending online. How good is the ending? Worth it or just look up a video online of the end?

Well, we shouldn't have to wait too long, there's plenty of Silent Hill out there for them to copy.
