No one does an information drip-feed quite like Rockstar Games. The developer's launch of the debut Grand Theft Auto V trailer yesterday lit a fire across the Internet, and it's followed today by a press release that answers a few questions.
Emphasis on "a few."
The release confirms that, as many had suspected after seeing the trailer, GTA V will be set in the Los Angeles-inspired city of Los Santos, along with "the surrounding hills, countryside and beaches." It's a " re-imagined, present-day Southern California," in much the same way that GTA IV delivered a re-imagined, present-day New York metropolitan area.
The press release also promises "a bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling and mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer." In other words, multiplayer is back. There's no mention of anything about the story or the character we saw in yesterday's trailer, but it's confirmed that the game "focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar."
The big remaining questions that go unanswered is: who the main characters are, which platforms will the game be released for and, most importantly, when will the game be out? On that last point, my money's on late 2012.

I would like the cars to handle more like they use to in the origional. And make my own character; take him to the gym buff him or her up!!! I want the full map as in the origional. And I would like more stores and choices on some of those really nice houses in the old game. And I would like CJ to have A freinding roll in the plot. Bad A-- cheats And maybe A choice in game path for character.

I have seen the trailer it looks absolutely brilliant, the graphics, cars, convertables, blimps, planes, mountains, turbines and the jet ski looks so amazing can't wait to ride that. :)

i Hope it will be release in March 13 just a few days after my birthday also a amazing thing would to be able to do parkour because i have been a fan of parkour since i was very little, and to be able to get jobs like working in an office or being a postman( that would be legendary).

Honestly I was hoping that it would be in a completely new city, like an alternate DC. You could perform crimes for dirty politicians in addition to the usual gangs and crime bosses, not to mention all the landmarks and buildings would be great fodder for gta parody.

I hope the multiplayer is handled more like it was in Red Dead Redemption than GTA4. Personally I thought the mp system in GTA4 was bad, I'd rather just have a main menu option for mp.
Also, I'm wondering if GTA5 will be able to be on only one disc on the 360 or if it will be on several. If it is on several discs I might have to go with the PS3 version.

I hope to god the multi-player is like Red Dead. That would be amazing to drive around Los Santos with 15 other people, randomly robbing banks, and getting in car races, or going on group killing sprees! High hopes for this game, high hopes.

I am so excited! I read somewhere the game is coming out in May 2012. I think this is the official GTA V fan site http://gtav.com by Rockstar. They have new screenshots of the game posted!! i cant wait until it comes out! I wonder if there will be more than one playable character based on the screenshot. The main character is a wealthy white male, but then in one screenshot it shows the police chasing a black guy in the alley.

I hate it when they release a trailer like a year early before the actual game release. I meant maybe 3 months before is ok, I like building up anticipation but dammit there is a limit!!!1

Being a PC gamer, I know I shouldn't get my hopes up too high for this game given R*'s track record of releasing games on PC (6+ months later, if at all... I'm glaring at you RD:R) but i just cant help but be a little excited (and hopeful).
